There's no way to fully capture how grateful my family is for the care our mother received on the 6th floor rehab unit at Sapphire. She spent about 2.5 months there recovering from a stroke and this place helped to give back her strength, confidence, and spirit. The rehab team is extraordinary. Paolo and Rhoda, my mom's PT and OT, poured their hearts into her recovery. They taught her to believe in herself, to see every small movement as a win worth celebrating. You could feel that straight from the top: Dorothy, the director of rehab, built a team that is deeply and genuinely invested in every single patient. Every time I walked past the rehab gym, patients came out with smiles, lifted up by the therapists' positivity and their own progress. The nursing staff and CNA are the heart of this place. The nurses knew every name and treated them like people, not tasks. They joked with them, listened, checked in, and made sure every concern reached the doctors. We've all heard the heartbreaking stories of patients being neglected or stripped of their dignity in nursing homes - Sapphire is the absolute opposite of that story, and it's because of people like them. In particular, we want to shout-out the CNAs and Nurses who cared for my mom - Annette, Angela, Darshan, Cathy, Ruth, NG, Adi, Dianne; and nurses Felix, Ivanne, and Lynn. You are all angels. Our social worker, Minnie Ram, and case manager, Clarisha Joseph, were absolute godsends - they guided us through the maze of care and discharge planning and insurance with so much patience and understanding. I'll tell you that as a family member, I have never felt so supported, even after discharge. I live 4 hours away and drove to NY every weekend, and it still broke my heart to leave my mom there. But Sapphire made it easier to bear because I saw firsthand how this entire team worked together with patience and respect for their patients, everyday. When my mom was finally discharged, she was actually sad to be leaving. I hope this review helps. We've been to SNFs before with "5-star" CMS ratings located in Manhattan and I can tell you honestly - please don't fall for the slick photos and website. If you are looking for a skilled nursing facility to help your loved one regain their mobility or to make sure they are recovering and are taken care of, make Sapphire your first choice.
