The staff is very caring and responsive to the needs of the residents. I feel very comfortable with the care both physical and emotional. My relative, while she would rather be home which is not possible, is very satisfied with her care.

For my experience here, which was short, I have MOSTLY only positive things to say. My mom was here for a couple of months only. The staff was nice, admin and nurses, were all very personable. my mom was bed bound when she stayed here and in her final stages of illness, she could not eat solid foods almost from the start of her stay. My mom had a roommate who was a know sticky fingers type, so they had to put my mom's clothes in another room. But it wasn't communicated with the nurse staff that was there when i went to visit her initially, and it took a few days before they shared the situation with me. I admit i laughed when i saw the roommate wearing my mom's scarf as if it were her own! When we finally put my mom in hospice care, they were pretty attentive, as much as they could be with a floor full of patients. She could not swallow at some point and we had to keep using the mucus sucking machine, the nurse showed me how to use it and clean it so I could do it in my own. The one thing that happened that made me really livid was i can't to sit with my mom, and when i walked in, she was in bed with a mouth FULL of food, just sitting in her mouth. I couldn't understand who would have put food in the mouth of a patient who could not swallow. Never found out. I scooped it all out, and thanked god she did not choke on it. All in all, my time there was very short, unfortunately, as my mom passed very quickly. So I did not have enough time in, to see how the place really functioned with regular, long term patients and families. But for my part, it was proper. The hospice service they used was great, and they follow up with grief service for quite a while, sending cards and checking up to see how you're handling the passing of your loved one. I appreciate that. I would have taken advantage of it, but the drive to danbury from Bridgeport, was not one I wanted to do anymore. All I can say is visit your loved ones. Regular, and at different times a day, and on different days, and with different people. Be outspoken, ADVOCATE for them! Ask questions. Treat the staff nice bc you're not there 24/7, but your loved one is. Keep that in mind before you cuss out a cna or nurse. If more families came to visit, our nurses wouldn't be so stretched thin and could treat patients with a bit more focus.

I visit to draw blood from the patience and i must say the staff are so sweet. They treat there patience with love and care. Awesome and safe facility.
