Absolutely disgusting. I came from out of state to visit a friend and this place was unbelievable. The CNA were talking so loud and the profanity they used was horrible. I continued to see my friend. Her room smelled so bad, the bathroom was nasty with holes in the wall and busted up . Her sheets hadn’t been changed so you could see the stained urine that looked like it’s been there for a while. She had a breakfast tray that hadn’t been touched, so she clearly didn’t eat. (It’s after 3pm) I’m contacting her family and notifying them on what I seen and in hopes of them moving her to a cleaner, safer, more caring environment. This is unacceptable
My Mom has been a resident here for 9 years. Over the years, I feel like we've been through serious lows and some very good highs with this place, including with COVID restrictions, which were a literal nightmare, and it took 1.5 years for me to get the place opened. When the facility was under Symphony, it was pretty bad at times. I have seen many directors pass through in this time, along with bad nurses, mean Social services people, good food & nutrition people leave, good Physical therapy people leave, etc... There were times I witnessed so much turn over in employees, it would cause anxiety for us. There were times I wanted to move my Mom, and there were times she wanted to be moved.<br>When Aliya took over this facility, I was really up in the air with "what's this going to look like." Since Aliya has taken over, which is almost 2.5 years or so, I can talk about some things that have happened, there was a soap dispenser issue in my Mom's room for a long time, which was finally fixed, the large sink in the big room on the first floor, which everyone uses, was missing soap and paper towels almost all the time, elevators could always be cleaner, main lobby could be mopped a few times a day for sure, food has been hit or miss at times, CNA's/nurses can be overloaded with patients, sometimes night shift had ignored calls for water.<br>The good things I can say are, my Mom finally consistently got a really good nurse, and when she's not there, she almost always has a great nurse for the day. PM nurse's have not been as consistent, there are different people many evenings, on nights she has a great male nurse who's with her a few nights a week, the laundry service is quite good and consistent, the head of maintenance is really great, any issue in the room is always addressed and done with a smile, most of the nurses and CNA's I trust and are very good at their jobs, even wound care and restorative people are fantastic, and consistent. The DON is on point with staff and very nice to talk with and knowledgeable. The psychotherapists have always been good over the years and have really helped my Mom. Physical therapy is controlled by medicare and is only so much a year, this is where I really wish it was more, but that's health care. The current director, has been in charge for about 2 years, no nonsense, keeps things moving forward, and holds staff accountable and for the most part, the staff is on point since she's been in charge. Any issues families have, she is approachable and always listens. Director is considerate and generous as well. Director had the outdoor terrace completely cleaned/trimmed/weeded, and it has never looked better. The activities staff has done more fun activities with residents now then before. There are employees that have become family over all these years, employees that we trust completely, employees we care about.<br>I can say all these years having a parent in a facility, which is hard enough to have to deal with already, the last few years have been the best. Which doesn't mean that things are perfect, as stated above, things can always be better and cleaner, but, the consistency of the entire staff, and leadership of a very good director, the place has turned for the better.
