I stayed at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home from 1/31/25-2/15/25. When my husband called to see if they would have room for me, Gloria, the nurse, told him that they would accept me. We had an appt at Yale New Haven Hospital at 3:30 pm on a rainy, foggy day/night (it was winter so it got dark early). My husband called to say that we would not be arriving until 7:30 pm. Gloria told him to call back when we were leaving New Haven. How thoughtful of her! Gloria was waiting for us at the entrance. She came outside and she assisted my husband and son as they got me out of the car and into my wheelchair. I felt a real connection with Gloria. She kept track of my blood pressure for awhile. She noticed that my pressure was good in the morning, but it was low in the evening. Gloria shared this with the facility's doctor. The doctor told her to reduce one of my medications. My evening blood pressure came up and was close to my morning blood pressure. Problem solved. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening conversations with Gloria. The other nurses were great as well! The CNAs were very helpful and assisted me with a variety of chores. I really enjoyed getting showers. The support staff-physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech were outstanding. I think I saw a physical therapist each day. In another rehab facility I was seen by the physical therapist 3x in 11 days. The food at Pierce was delicious! In fact, I gained a few pounds while I was there. Of course, it could be because I always treated myself to dessert. The social worker, Kristen, a former student of mine, explained the discharge procedure to my husband and me. I highly recommend Pierce Memorial Baptist Home!

I absolutely recommend this place. Both my parents were there and they were treated with such dignity during their hardest end of life times. They felt loved, and the staff was so conscientious and caring. I called at different times of the day to check in on my parents and they could tell me at any time exactly how much they weighed, how much they had eaten that day, any medicines they needed, how their mood was etc. They were meticulous with note keeping and so competent. They did the hard things like bathing them and helping with hygiene etc and never once did my parents feel unloved or less valuable. They would talk to them and hug them and really got to know them. I felt so good with the care that they both received. My parents both loved the people there. This facility also very much listens to the family and gets to know what we needed. Sometimes I would be crying as I left if my parent wasn't well and I would be greeted with hugs from Gloria, Ruth or Jane or really any of them. They would talk us through things, the health issues, different normal processes etc. and the hard talks with honesty and integrity and truth. They considered what we as a family wanted with sensitivity. Truly, this place is a godsend!

Pierce staff took good care of my sister. Cleaning lady (Michele) was the best person, she really cares and jokes with the patients makes them feel like they are someone. i was a little disappointed that they didnt keep me updated on her care. Coupl of nurses when i was there to visit, said some things to me that was a little disturbing. but all in all they did their best always short staffed. i just found out that the death certificate still hasnt reached the cremation facility so her body is still there waiting. that makes me very sad.

You could not have asked for any better care than the staff provided my mother and father over the last 5.5 years until my dads passing September 1st of this year. They are all kind, caring and extremely professional. The folks behind the scenes are also exceptional.
