About Oakhill Healthcare

Oakhill Healthcare is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Middleboro, Massachusetts, with a licensed capacity of 123 residents. The community accepts MassHealth insurance alongside private pay.

Family feedback is mixed and candid. Positive reviewers emphasize that staff members show genuine care and work hard in a difficult environment, with one family noting the facility "take[s] mass health" when other places have limited slots. Several families highlight recreational programming—bingo, art, music, and holiday events—and credit the rehab department. However, critical reviews point to serious concerns: dated physical conditions including visible pest issues, stained and worn bedding, food served in disposable containers, and inadequate toileting assistance during rehabilitation stays. Some families report lack of communication about therapy progress and felt nursing staff were dismissive when raising care questions.

Oakhill Healthcare holds a 3.1 out of 5 rating based on 27 Google reviews. The divided feedback suggests the quality of care may depend significantly on unit placement and individual staff members, with families appreciating the facility's willingness to accept insurance and its activity programming, but expressing frustration over maintenance standards and consistency in hands-on patient care.

My sister has dealt with Kyle in the office, he has always been very helpful. They treat my mother with the upmost respect at Oakhill and we couldn't be happier with the care she gets. They are always offering fun activities for the patients and you can tell the nurses genuinely care, which is hard to find these days. My Mother is on the C Unit and all of the staff on that unit are phenomenal. She just got back to Oakhill after having a difficult 9 months and she was so excited to see Wendy & Dee again. Dee is a nurse on a separate unit and still goes to say hi to my mom! Sincerely, thank you all for being so kind to my mother, treating her with respect and taking great care of her!

It's a nursing home not a resort the staff works hard to make a tough situation better because when your sick , old or recovering it's hard on you and your family. Don't take needing a place like this out on the people trying to help, a thank you is appreciated. They have good rehab dept. , they decorate and have some things to do bingo. Art, music holidays they will to take suggestions and donations if you want to help (food supplies , help for less fortunate folks and in general) They serve Institution food it's hot on time and they try to make it reasonable they have sandwiches , anytime snacks beverages are always avaliable. They do do store runs and allow deliveries. I found my room was Clean and was done daily They have to put up with some tough situations and people please be nice remember if you could take care of your loved ones they would be home. I did see a few volunteers Ask them I'm sure you can help I was there for a couple of months it's hard you don't want to be there and your are sick but it is what it is. I appreciated the Oak hill staff and all of their efforts. Thank you!

Place was a dump! Old and saw bugs by the sliding doors in the room. My father was in worst shape than ever after his so called “rehab”. He was increasingly incontinent and I could tell he was never toileted. When I asked someone if he could be toileted I got the eye roll. No one ever called to update me on his physical therapy progress at all. I would call and I got the same answer,”We use an outside company do someone will call you.” No one ever did. I visit my Dad and even the aide said,”I’ve never seen anyone ever working with your father.” My father was discharged without any information about his stay. Absolutely nothing. He was discharged on Feb 14 and passed away a month later. I would never ever recommend this place.

This place is a warehouse for people. Fed in Styrofoam containers with food that can't be identified. Food is dropped off to patients who can't even feed themselves. When asked for clean bed linens they all have stains and you can see through the sheets they are so old. Nursing staff for the most part could careless about patient care. Administration is polite but nothing seems to be done about poor patient care. My loved one was soaking wet with urine for hours. Yes I know for fact because I was there and came back four hours later to find him the same way I had left him . I also had marked his brief to assure I would know if he had been changed. NOPE!!! My loved one then had a medical change in status. I brought this to the nurses attention who only took his oxygen level after asking her to do vital signs. It took the second shift nurse to identify he had a high heart rate and spiked a fever. Off to the hospital he went. DO YOUR LOVED ONES A FAVOR , NEVER EVER SEND THEM TO OAKHILL HEALTHCARE IN MIDDLEBORO MA. ALSO LOOK UP REVIEWS AND SEE THEY WERE IN DEEP TROUBLE FOR NEGELECT AND LACK OF PATIENT CARE. This is a very sad experience for all involved. PATIENT BEWARE!!!

This could be 3 stars because of the age of the facility, but the staff and the little things they do bumps it up to five. I am familiar with newer and more expensive places and am making my review based on that. Firstly they take mass health, other facilities have a few slots and no rooms available. When I walk in to visit the patients are very friendly happy and alert. The staff is visible and concern about the patient. She spends most of her time in bed and started to get bed sores. They treated it immediately and she is feeling fine. One of the little things is a couple of bird feeders outside each patient’s window. My sister is getting hospice care and losing the cancer battle. She is happy being there because how friendly and caring the staff is. The staff consists of many locals and she can share stories with many of them. Most of all I feel very comfortable with her there and she is local to family and friends.
