Our loved family member was a resident at Oak Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, and our experience raised serious concerns. Prescribed medication critical to managing his Alzheimer’s symptoms was reportedly not administered for approximately three weeks. During that time his condition worsened, and he suffered a fall requiring an emergency room visit and stitches. Further, the facility required us to hire private sitters at our own expense while they were “adjusting” the medication that they reportedly failed to administer. Despite a physician’s order and repeated reminders, the facility failed to consistently provide a soft diet. I also frequently found him in wet bedding and soiled clothing. I was informed he was left unclothed and shivering because he was “refusing” care. Our expectation of a memory care facility, specifically marketing themselves as an “Alzheimer’s Special Care Center,” would have staff who are trained and able to redirect and assist cognitively impaired residents, not leaving them vulnerable and suffering. Families should carefully evaluate staffing, training, and medication management here.

If you are looking for the worst dementia care in DFW you have found it. First off, I am a retired medical doctor. This facility provided disgraceful care for my brother. From the director of the facility, down to the people who are “supposed” to do the laundry, to the people who dispense medication NO ONE CARES. He did not receive his most important medications to prevent hallucinations for 3 WEEKS and this resulted in him hurting another patient and then himself after a bad fall where he split his head open. During his stay here, we have found him in a urine soaked bed daily. We have arrived to poop and vomit in his bed. Several times we arrived to find him in one of the many hallways only dressed in a diaper and shivering on the floor with skinned knees and feet because he had been crawling in his diaper. How this facility is so uncaring is unthinkable. I couldn’t be more disappointed and could never recommend this place to anyone. Part of our decision to put him here was its wonderful reviews…how deceptive. Families beware
