Oak Brook Health Care Center is a 120-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Whitehouse, Texas, serving residents who need rehabilitation after hospitalization or ongoing care for conditions including Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Family experiences at Oak Brook are notably mixed. Several families describe deeply engaged staff who go above and beyond, one noted that certain aides "treat them like family," while another wrote the facility "may not be fancy, but has the best staff you could ever want." Families frequently mention responsive call lights, daily activities, and outings to shops and movies. However, other families report significant concerns: maintenance issues including cleanliness problems in rooms and hallways, inconsistent communication practices (including one account of a resident's phone not being charged), and reported difficulties engaging with administration around care decisions.
Long-term residents, particularly those who have stayed years at the facility, appear to show better outcomes; families describe residents thriving and progressing enough to move to lower levels of care. Shorter stays or acute situations show more variable satisfaction. Individual staff members are frequently praised by name, while concerns about management approach and facility consistency appear in negative reviews.
Oak Brook holds a 3.9 out of 5 Google rating across 72 reviews. Families considering placement should plan for direct communication with the care team and may want to clarify protocols around family contact and care oversight before admission.

First time seen this place with my dad and it smelled so bad it smelled like urine in the room hallways in the area that he was going to be, I just hope they take care of him right!

My mother was a resident for 4.5 years. My family was very satisfied with her care. The staff was professional but also very caring. We really appreciate them.

Staff are very nice. It's a small facility and feels like family. My mom was here 2007-2010. My brother entered yesterday.
