My father was a resident for the past year and I applaud the staff for their assistance as he declined. I visited often and while the facility is basic, I felt like the staff had his best interests in mind at all times. And our family appreciates that.

My dad has to unfortunately live there. The air conditioner in his room barely works. With all the money this for-profit home makes one would think they'd install central air. My dad has recently been infected with scabies. They are all over his body. Scabies occur from dirty bedding or from transfer. A nurse or assistant most likely treated another patient with scabies without wearing protective gear then eventually attended to my dad which transfered scabies to him. My dad is absolutely miserable there and I'm going to make sure the staff and for-profit owners of this creepy facility are held accountable for the mountain of issues in that place including staff conduct. And I won't rest until appropriate changes come to fruition. Good thing for elder affairs attorneys. Do not allow your loved one to live in that dirty nasty place.

I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the conditions at Norwood Health Care, where my aunt was recently admitted for rehabilitation following her surgery. It has come to my attention that this facility is not only a rehabilitation hospital but also functions as a nursing home and a psychiatric care unit. The combination of these services raises significant concerns about the quality of care and the environment provided to patients, particularly vulnerable seniors. Upon her arrival, my aunt encountered numerous issues that are unacceptable in any healthcare setting. The facility was reported to be infested with roaches, which poses serious health risks to all residents and staff. Additionally, the cleanliness of the rooms was subpar; they were dirty and poorly maintained. Most alarmingly, the hallways emitted a strong odor of urine, indicating inadequate sanitation practices. Furthermore, when my aunt requested a towel for bathing, she was given a ripped towel. This incident highlights not only a lack of proper supplies but also raises questions about the overall management of patient needs within the facility. When she inquired about the condition of the towel, one nurse explained that it had been torn because it was “too long.” (photo attached) This response is troubling and reflects poorly on the operational standards of care. It is particularly concerning that individuals who may not have a choice in their living arrangements are subjected to such conditions. Many residents rely on these facilities for essential care and support during their recovery or daily living activities. The current state of this health care center does not provide an environment conducive to healing or well-being. Given these serious issues, I urge you to investigate this facility promptly. It is crucial that steps be taken to ensure that all healthcare providers meet acceptable standards for cleanliness, safety, and patient care. No individual should have to endure such conditions while seeking rehabilitation or nursing care.

My father was placed here as an emergency. He was diagnosed with very severe dementia at 53, we walked into his room and the whole room was still covered and littered with another person’s belonging. This just confused him to no ending, he was trying to explain to the workers that it wasn’t his room, and they were so ill prepared to deal with him, he got rightfully very upset and ended up in the hospital on a section 12, which was heartbreaking for our whole family. When you first walk into this place there is an awful order. The employees avoid their patients as much as possible, very little interactions and even less speaking. When I was first there with my dad a woman brought my father in dinner and would not make eye contact or speak to any of us. The director Donna claims she is “stern and firm” when speaking to other people, but she is just horribly mannered and rude, especially for someone working in an industry where families are going through something so terrible and difficult. I would think very heavily before trying to place a family member here.

I had a client that was living here that I need to take care of today. Unfortunately, I had left my badge at home but my work schedule was proof. When I had walked into the building, a receptionist and a nurse was standing at the desk. I had introduce myself, and I let them know that I’m here for somebody. In a very hostile voice she said, show me your badge and I had told her unfortunately I don’t have it on me, but I’m willing to show you my work schedule to confirm, my identity and the person that I am working with. She kept on insisting that I show her my badge and I kept telling her that I left it at home by mistake. She eventually asked me to call my boss; which I had no problem in doing so. While I was on hold, they were talking very bad about me. They accused me of carrying a gun into the building because they don’t know who I am. I got very offended and I told my boss what was going on. When I told them that they accuse me of carrying a gun, they yelled in synchronized manner, we were just joking we were just joking. I told them you can’t jokes about something like that I find that offensive. My boss told me to leave and I did. The nurse that was standing there wasn’t even wearing a badge either and she confessed to that, so why was she also giving me a hard time when she wasn’t even wearing one either?
