Mission Nursing Home

Mission Nursing Home is a skilled nursing facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, located on Medicine Lake. Opened in 1964, it began as a place for aging men from Mission Farms, part of Union City Mission, to receive long-term skilled nursing care. It remains the only all-male skilled nursing facility in Minnesota, serving up to 65 residents who experience a variety of physical and behavioral health issues.

The facility is staffed by highly trained licensed personnel capable of assessing, managing, and treating all levels of skilled care along with a wide range of co-morbidities. Services include wound care such as wound vacs, drains, and irrigation; respiratory care including tracheotomy management, BiPap and CPap management, nebulizer treatments and oxygen therapy; post-acute management of trauma, surgical or critical illness; paracentesis; and IV treatments and management including pre-approved IVP medications.

A strong therapy department offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy for rehabilitation services. The facility also provides behavioral health management for all skilled residents in need, with on-site Psychiatry Services and weekly visits from psychology, addressing complex mental, behavioral, and chemical health issues.

Residents with physician approval may participate in a program allowing them to enjoy a prescribed amount of alcohol during a daily happy hour. The facility also offers an indoor smoking area for cigarettes, with outdoor space available for pipe smoking, vaping, or cigars.

The average length of stay is 68-74 days when combining short-term and long-term stays. Mission Nursing Home accepts Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, and a variety of insurances and supplemental plans. The newly refinished facility is surrounded by rolling hills, green woods, and scenic views of Medicine Lake.
