I was sent here for PT due to a broken ankle that required pins and a rod to repair. The Physical therapy was the only thing that was worth going here for. The therapists were all excellent and knowledgeable. The food was horrible and although there were several outstanding nurses and aides, there were also many rude aides who should be fired due to rudeness, neglect and laziness. The condition of the facility is very old, cobwebs everywhere, broken and/or outdated beds and furniture. Needs to be completely renovated.

My mother in law (MIL) recently stayed at this facility and living out of state, when we first heard she’d be transferred there for rehab, we immediately were put at ease based on the high quality reviews we read. Sadly, this place was a huge mistake. From day one, it was a disaster. My MIL arrived early in the day from the hospital. Manatee Springs did not have her meds ready upon admission nor did they have them within hours of her arrival. Instead, they arrived over 24hrs later (!) which meant that she was not medicated for pain and had to endure a grueling and torturous first night. When we reached out to staff to discuss, the issue was brushed off and explained that the pharmacy they use is not local hence the delay but everything was “now available so it wouldn’t be an issue going forward”. As a nurse, this is total nonsense! Meds are always available- they can pull from a Pyxis!!! Then she didn’t receive the rehab time she was told she’d be getting. So yet another phone call was made and while everyone is nice and friendly, there are not exactly forthcoming when it comes to answering hard questions. Instead, they pass the buck! But we were told it would be remedied but it wasn’t. Same with the pressure wound she developed under their care. Any questions (size, treatment, etc) asked were dismissed because they had a wound nurse overseeing it. We never heard from a wound nurse. My MIL was fairly continent during this time but unable to ambulate. They took hours to respond to her call lights and cries for help. If she was transferred to a wheelchair, and called out for repositioning, no one would respond. She would be in tears from the pain of spending hours in an awkward position! Then the STNAS, when they would answer, would yell “just go in your pants”. Really? Does that sound like compassionate care? My husband spent hours on the phone with nurses, therapists, supervisors, and management. Each time he was told they had plenty of nurses and STNAs - both day and night. We were reassured that these problems would be addressed but they NEVER were. Instead we were subject to nightly phone calls from her saying “help me”. So living out of state, we would call the facility to summon help on her behalf but no one would ever answer. The phone would simply ring. Completely unacceptable. Again, I am a seasoned nurse with hospice and long term care experience, I played devils advocate listening to my husband and MIL’s stories and really tried to give the benefit of the doubt as often as I could but frankly this place is a disaster when it comes to providing basic needs let alone preserving a patient’s dignity. My MIL passed away having endured such mistreatment in her final days! The entire staff at Manatee Springs should be replaced with people who actually want to help people. Anyone reading this with a loved one under their care should in my opinion consider a different facility or at least the use of a nanny cam to monitor care provided….or shall I say, not provided.

I’d like to share my positive experience with Manatee Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Bradenton, Florida. The staff was extremely friendly and consistently attentive to the needs of my family member during his stay. Throughout my visits, I found everyone to be very helpful and willing to take the time to explain the facility and the level of care they provide. Several individuals truly went above and beyond to assist us, including Sue Duncan, LPN (Unit 2 Manager), Amber Branham, Business Manager, Kim Perkins, and Brenda (Nursing Supervisor), along with many other staff members whose names I may have unfortunately forgotten. Although my family member was only there for a short time, his rehabilitation was a success. I was able to walk out of the facility with him, which speaks volumes about the quality of care, dedication, and attention he received. Thank you to everyone at Manatee Springs for the important work you do each day to support residents, patients, and their families during what can be a very challenging time.

Had my dad in there for about a week now. People are absolutely outstanding! Angel, Sue, and Nicole were extra special. Along with Christine. Always calls and texts me right back if i have a question. If i could give 10 stars i would. If anyone looking for a place , i don't think it gets much better than this. As far as the staff goes. The food is really good also. Beds are extremely comfortable in my opinion also. Not a complaint really, but if i had to change something would be a little more selection for the tv, my dad really likes watching sports and there is no golf channel, or anything besides espn. But he does fine, just i know hes having hard time finding stuff to watch, which ill prob bring a roku stick up for him. Fantastic place!
