Important: This review is specifically for the Marian Avenue location in Thousand Oaks (not the Sidlee location). The home itself is clean and the grounds are pleasant, and a few caregivers were kind and attentive. Unfortunately, that was not enough to outweigh the serious concerns my family experienced here. We were promised a level of care and family involvement that was not delivered. Management felt distant and controlling, and family access was heavily restricted. Visitation was limited, advance notice was required for many visits and appointments, and I was often excluded from common areas and care-related discussions. I also witnessed concerning safety issues, including residents falling without proper supervision, with some incidents resulting in hospitalization. What was most difficult was the lack of compassion and transparency. Instead of feeling like partners in our loved one’s care, we felt pushed out and discouraged from being involved. Based on my firsthand experience, I would not recommend this facility for a loved one.
