My childhood friend’s mother has been a resident in the memory care section, Compass Rose, in Westmont for almost two years. The staff and care givers are wonderful and I wanted to add a special shout out to Maggie, the Activities Director for Compass Rose. She’s always on top of the residents’ needs and goes over and above to ensure they are engaged in the many thoughtful and creative activities she plans for them throughout the day.

Many things are good about Westmont of Carmel Valley, but the preparation for wildfire is still not nailed down. The staff is excellent, activities are many and varied and everyone is so friendly. It truly is a pleasure to be here.

Our lifestyle director Maria is EXCELLENT! Uniquely prudent in the management of any activity at Westmont of Carmel Valley. Maria endowed the request at hand with boundless patients, kindness, and efficiency. She simply gets the job done.

My mother has been living in the Memory Care facility for almost 18 months now. The staff are phenomenal. Very caring and kind and patient. But best of all is the activity director Maggie. She is amazing! She keeps the tenants active and engaged and happy and involved all the time. She is so upbeat and energetic and they all benefit from her encouragement and her supervision of the daily activities. She is truly a blessing to Westmont.

My grandfather moved in to the facility in 2024, and initially we were happy about the services provided. However, after only 2 months at the facility, we had to move him out due to neglect and inadequate staffing that led to serious health issues for him.<br><br>During the consultation, the staff promised a certain level of care due to his special needs related to being wheelchair-bound. However, the day before his move-in date, they reversed some of their promises, stating that it was outside their normal services.<br><br>After the initial medical consult, my grandfather was supposed to start PT and OT but that never happened under the staff's care.<br><br>In the span of two months he fell several times, even when staff was in the room with him.<br><br>During one of those incidents, staff forced him to go to urgent care alone, despite both him and his power of attorney declining the medical attention.<br><br>These are just some of the ways the staff at Westmont failed my grandfather, and led to him leaving the facility in much worse medical condition than he was when he was admitted.<br><br>Although the facilities are nice and updated, the staff should have been more clear with us about how the level of care they were able to provide. I am happy that many people have had good experiences here, but I feel compelled to share our family's unfortunate experiences for other's awareness.
