Walking through and the Rehab part seem fine to me. Better than other places like Summit. I've detected no urine or natural gas smells at John Knox.

I worked here as an overnight floor tech (cleans floors) for nearly 5 months. During my first 3 weeks of training, I was placed on mornings. What I saw during those 3 weeks of training was enough for me to realize that I wouldn't even put my own parents in this place even if they were absent/abusive. The staff talk down to the residents, ignore call lights, and rush them to eat their meals. I can recall a specific instance where a resident was wheeled into the restroom. The man then stated that he could "take over" the rest of his duties he needed to do in the bathroom and the nurse shut the door for him. A few minutes pass by and I notice that a light above the door is flashing. I was never taught what it meant when that happens as I am not to touch or even care for the residents since it was not my job nor was I trained/certified to do so. Time passes, and I realize the light is still on. A nurse ended up walking by and asked me how long the light had been going. I replied with "about 25 minutes". She then opened the door to find the elderly man on the floor, covered in feces, urine, and toilet water. The toilet was not bolted down properly and had tipped over and shattered. For nearly 30 minutes that man was laying in filth with several nurses and care staff passing by the door and not one stepped to the side to check on him. Besides the negligent care of the staff, the building is falling apart and they're band-aiding it. Half of the building has been shut down due to construction that was supposed to be done in March of last year. Poor management, negligent staff, and an overall immature and unprofessional work environment was enough to make me quit after putting up with it for almost 5 months. Not to mention my manager calling me on the day of my uncles funeral to interrogate me about work related issues whereas I can't even get a text back on the weekend because it's "my time off and I'll handle it when I'm back in on monday". The only reason it gets a 2 starts instead of 1 is because there are very FEW people on staff that actually care about your loved ones. Even then, the odds aren't in your favor. When seeking somewhere for care, look somewhere else.

2 star is generous. As a health care provider I was appalled at the poor treatment of my father in law for rehab after a compression fx of his back. We had one aide who cared, but staffing was extremely poor. Our concerns were discounted over and over. Care extremely poor and made even more evident after we needed a second rehab. He is now very well cared for in a facility closer to me and we realize the extent of what he was missing previously. Thank you Via Christi Pittsburg...shame on you John Knox. Do not trust your loved one with care at this facility.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! My mother was there after a major surgery. Her incision became infected after the wound care nurse dropping a cloth in the sink my mother washed her hands and brush in teeth and cleaned her incision with it. I'm not sure how many times this happened before I was present to stop it. She explained this was how they taught her. THERE WAS NO ONE WHO WORKED WITH WOUNDS CONCERNED WITH THIS PRACTICE 😒 I told her basic first aide teaches to use clean bandages on a wound. I was then looked at with disgust when I instructed her to only use the wound care solution with a square wound patch and dab it off then throw the patch away. Cover with clean bandage. We had my mother transported to the emergency room because of the infection. I told the staff and my mother I will be present during the cleaning of her incision. Be careful at night that's when your loved one can be neglected and treated badly. At night when my mother would call for help to the bathroom it would take the nursing assist so long to come my mother had no other choice but to go on herself. Her meals were cold so I would make sure I was there to heat it up for her or bring meals in. Some of the office staff needs to be fired for a lack of professionalism. For the nursing staff that did a great job......please find some place else to work. You don't want this place to damage your opportunities for better employment. Undercover inspections are needed.

Better than some places, (I expect) but the rehab of my mom was not as good as anticipated. However, nursing was very good and professional. They are so busy with multiple rehab patients I never got to know the PT staff very well. The social worker that coordinated some important aspects and left phone messages began each call and conversation with "Hey ". it began to seem like a way to distance herself and open the way to be noncommital about some very important issues. Left me feeling uneasy.
