I moved to an independent living apartment at John Knox Village in November 2025. It is the perfect place at this stage of life. It makes for worry free living. Caring, competent staff. Great range of activities for brain, and body. Good food with varied menus. Walkable campus. PT/OT professionals who work diligently for maximum results. Community garden with individual plots. A wonderful blessing all around for senior living.

My wonderful Aunt lives there, and her duplex is full of mice, she DAILY finds piles of mice droppings. Absolutely disgusting, if I could give 0 stars I would.

DO NOT RECOMMEND for anyone’s loved ones. If you are considering moving here for yourself- FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!
This place is nothing but a money racket- it is so grossly over priced for the quality of living provided. The meal credits? Use it or lose it. They keep your money. I know of TWO residents with MICE. And the administration is gas lighting them into thinking there is “no activity” when they assess. And insinuating it is a lie, when there is MICE POOP all over the apartment!!!
They don’t care about the well being of their residents. An employee got reprimanded for calling the ambulance on a person in a medical crisis! And that employee QUIT! Several stories of employees leaving because they aren’t supportive of how these people treat their residents.
The apartments are disgusting and the environment is DEPRESSING. It breaks my heart that elderly are placed here or willingly move here under the false impression great things are ahead from their vibrant advertising. The way the staff speak to the residents who pay a disgusting amount of money for a failure of a community is shocking. And please trust me when I say an OVERPICED. FAILURE. Of a community.

John Knox Ambulance Service is top notch. We have used them several times and the people are great. We are very impressed with them. Thank you for taking such great care of my wife. The people in the office is great also, thanks for giving us some peace of mind.

My spouse and I have lived here now for just over 3 years and are still of the opinion that this is one of the best decisions we've ever made. The majority of the staff members have been employed here for over 10 years, so that might tell you a bit about the environment. It was a big financial decision for us, sure, but the benefit of discounted future long-term care is a significant plus. The residents here are of varied backgrounds and histories, and it is easy to find new friends, if that is one's intent. Our current dining credit is $330/month each, available at any of the seven (!!) restaurants on campus. The Lifestyles associates (activities) are in constant overdrive with arranging meaningful and entertaining events. There are frequent informative meetings about the goings-on with the Board, Resident Council, Finance Cmte.; transparency about all that is so important. There are many resident-run groups: political, gardening-related, history, religious -- as far as we're concerned, this is THE place to be.
