I’m writing this review to spread awareness of abuse in nursing homes.. my family sent my grandma here 3 years ago in 2022 and when we were in the hospital a nurse said this was such a great place boy was a wrong after letting my grandma stay here I remember her crying on the phone something that woman never ever did she begged us to get her out of there. Well it turned out she was being disrespected by staff and talked really down too and told us that on two or three separate occasions that she was yelled at for having to go potty and use the bathroom she would cry every single night because of the way she was treated so I am writing this to show what does happen behind closed doors at nursing homes

If I could leave negative stars I would. Do not allow anyone you care about to go to Hillview. Horrible patient care, nothing came of my complaints about lack of care, lack of therapy, lack of following her dietary restrictions and the horrible way some of the staff spoke to her. She was only there for 2 days when she asked me to move her based on how she was talked to and treated. Unfortunately the day before she was being transferred their negligence landed her in the hospital for several days. I hope the state shuts this place down. She was there for rehabilitation and 100% in her right mind, but could not stand or transfer on her own. The aids were downright mean to her and left her sitting in waste to the point of causing skin infections & ulcers along with a UTI and in acute kidney failure. When she told me how she was spoken to and treated it made me sick to my stomach. I was told she was being sent to the ER for "abnormal labs" and yes they were abnormal, she was in critical condition when she arrived. The ER physician and staff were appalled at the condition she was in when they examined her. The skin on her buttocks and genital area was extremely inflamed, raw, bleeding, blistered & peeling - which they documented and confirmed was directly caused by insanity conditions and negligence. My 80+ Mom told the Doctor she stopped drinking because she thought it would help her to have to urinate less. That everytime she pushed the button for someone to help her to the bedside commode or give her a bedpan she was critized and talked down to for having to go to often or the call light ignored until it was to late.<br>Thankfully she is recovering well and getting the therapy she needed as well as being treated with kindness and dignity at the new rehab facility. I wouldn't recommend Hillview to my worst enemy. Horrible communication, I was never notified of a care plan meeting, just happened to walk in on the only one we had. When asked why I, her daughter, primary caretaker & POA wasnt notified I was told it was an oversight. When asked why she hadn't seen anyone from OT and PT had only seen her once in the 6 days she was there, when the whole purpose of her being there was for therapy they couldn't provide an answer. I could go on with several other issues I had & things I witnessed in our week there - it made me sad and angry for patients. They are severely understaffed & either under trained or just don't care. We neve met anyone from the leadership team, met the Social Worker at the 1 week in mark. Admissions was of course there day 1, eager to get thr paperwork signed. Within 2 hours at the new facility all of the leadership team came in to introduce themselves. And nursing did a full head to toe assessment, which she didnt receive at Hillview. The 1st full day we had a comprehensive care plan meeting. She received both OT & PT, head of dietary came to get her likes, dislikes, allergies, special needs, etc. The ED comes to her and all the patients rooms multiple times each week to ask how they are doing and how can he help. Hillview's staff mostly just give the vibe of not caring about the people they are caring for or having any pride in what they do, just there for the check.
