Our mother has been at Hillside Terrace for several years now, transitioning to Memory Care a few years back. The staff are kind and do their best and my mother is happy. Unfortunately, we have lost a few things that we felt were special to mom. She likes pretty things. We have lost soft blankets and pretty tops in Assisted Living. We worked with the laundry supervisor, they were never found. In Memory Care, two weeks after I bought it, mom’s shower chair, which was a perfect size for her came up missing. We lost a nice pair of new shoes and the comment was: “ The staff think another resident threw them away”, which, one, would be highly unlikely as the trash cans are very small in the rooms. Shoes would not fit and two, we highly believe a resident would not take them. Then, most recently she lost a pretty jeans jacket. This, and all the items were reported with actually little regard. I was told the issue was punted to the Administration, however have not heard back at all. This past spring I wrote a note to the administration that I believed someone on their staff was stealing things. No response. Again, the facility is lovely and mom seems content and happy. However, just a note of consideration when things come up missing several times and it feels like to the family there is little regard, it opens a general concern of trust overall. I think this is important to consider when you are placing a loved one into the hands of a facility. Thank you, on behalf of the Weber and Turner family.
