As of 2025 I am so impressed with the staff & care provided @ Hickory Villa. Sara the Activities director & Tawny the executive director are incredible as well as the rest of the staff . They truly love the residents . I am there biweekly & see how things are run. They DO have security doors & it is well run & safe. The residents are so happy. It really is like a big happy family there.

So far, I have been beyond impressed. As off now, 2024, this facility accepts Medicaid Waiver on Admission, which is huge, because there arent many. I believe the management changed within the last year or two (this is in Oct 2024), but Tawny McMilliams is the Executive Director and she is amazing. So personable, knowledgeable, professional, and CARING! When my grandmother and I schedule a tour, she walked and talked with us for 2 hours to get a feel for my grandma, engage with her genuinely, and answer any questions we had. My grandma is set to move on on Nov 4th (about two weeks). For those in my position who might struggle with the decision to choose assisted living or home care for your elderly ones - its okay to choose Assisted Living, where people are paid round the clock to take care of your loved ones needs. Especially at a place as caring as Hickory! The atmosphere is bright, clean, and doesn't smell funky. The rooms are well kept. The meals look quality, although admittedly I haven't tried any yet - but even if not, they also provide snacks and staples! They DO have door security, and always know who is going in or out. However, they do not have a memory care unit, and residents are allowed to leave whenver they want. So for my grandmother, who has mild dementia, I have been able to communicate with the staff on a case by case basis and ask that they at least encourage her to always have a buddy or group when she leaves the building. Overall, I am so grateful Hickory Villa and Bethseda care exist, and I hope and pray they stay in business. I can rest easy knowing my grandma will be taken care of, and that she will hopefully be able to build even more relationships with people in her same stage of life.

Bed bugs, no type of security doors for the residents who got dementia. Nursing director rude along with other staff. Watched her and another heavy set lady and other maintenance people stand out back amd smoke constantly I have watched them for over a year span and it is horrible! I have to report all I have seen to state, and all eldery associations and the .news

I can't say enough good things about this wonderful place. The staff are so caring and kind, the place itself is clean, full of light and life for all the elders living there. My mom could not be happier and when Mom's happy we're all happy. She did not know a soul when she moved in there and now has many friends. I don't worry about her in the least bit now with having staff close by 24 hours a day.

We moved our 97 year old grandma in to Hickory Villa and I can tell you from having to move her out of a different assistant living that cost her nearly $6000.00 a month that Hickory Villa is by far the best thing we could have done. The staff here at Hickory Villa is top notch and they truly care about your loved ones. Shan, Craig, Mel, Jo, and to all the staff thank you for everything you have done and still are doing for the residents at Hickory Villa. Thank you! Steve & Debi Martines
