This review is long but I hope you will read it in it's entirety. This place has been INCREDIBLE for my grandma. I cannot say enough good things about it. The staff is wonderful and the leadership staff (especially the nurse administrator, Amy) is second to none. The decision to transition my grandma was such a difficult one. She refused to leave her home of 59 years and the thought and process of navigating the transition was daunting at best. While other facilities' staff told me to, " Swing her on by" for an evaluation (mind you grandma would not leave her house or hardly let anyone in) the staff of Hearth and Home helped to get her to their location in a loving, compassionate and understanding way. It gave me such a feeling of relief and peace of mind to know I had a team of supportive people (who were experts) to help me...and they didn't even know us yet! Grandma has been loved and loved on, treated with dignity and respect, and has been welcomed into the Hearth and Home El Camino family. She gets brakfast made to order and "home cooked" meals. She has an apartment size (about 4 1/2 feet tall) refrigerator in her room where she can keep her favorite things like Pepsi and other treats. Mia, the home's (therapy) dog is there during the day during the week and has brought such comfort to my grandma. It is hard for our loved ones to have to leave their pets behind and having Mia there to just hang out with my grandma and other family members/residents has been a great bonus. Back to the staff...A much higher staff to resident ratio is provided here at El Camino. The staff love my grandma and she loves them:). Not only do they do all the necessary and required tasks (frequently), they help grandma play her classic country, Patsy Cline and Elvis and dance with her! My grandma receives soamy hugs now! The leadership staff is just a phone call or text away which gives me such peace of mind especially since I live out of state. My family is so grateful for Health and Home El Camino and for welcoming my grandma, loving her, caring for her, and providing her peace, comfort and even happiness and joy (a visit from Elvis helped with that!) at this time in her life.

My dad has been at Hearth and Home on El Camino for almost 2 years. We moved him there from another facility after he was not given proper care. We are very pleased with the care that is given to my dad and are especially grateful to the staff. I would highly recommend this facility for your loved ones.

My experience with Hearth and home has been Wonderful. Moving my wife here has been one of the best decisions that I’ve made. The staff is friendly, very prompt and attentive to her needs. They have taken very good care of her with no complaints. The food has been very appetizing. They even offer for me to eat lunch with her when I am there no questions asked I feel very at home here and like I’m part of the family. Mya (the homes dog) is extremely friendly and loving my wife, adores her.

Hearth and Home –El Camino in Springfield, Ohio has been a wonderful comfort to our family in caring for our Mother, a resident there for a full year. After Mom had been a client at another facility for several years, we realized that we needed to upgrade the quality of care Mom was receiving and H&H was recommended by members of the Springfield medical community as well as friends with a family member there. We were ably guided in the re-homing process by the experienced Nurse/Director of both Hearth and Home locations in Springfield, selecting that which best met Mom’s needs. We noticed that residents can, and do, take advantage of “best fit” between the two similar homes, based on their desires and abilities to participate in activities, as well as level of care that best nurtures them. During the past year we have observed conscientious care of Mom and other residents on all three shifts at H&H. Due to Mom’s unavoidable changes in health that come with advanced age, we have been there often, and sometimes unexpectedly, at all hours, and for extended periods and have seen first hand the good quality and continuity of care of Mom and other residents. Our four siblings/families visit regularly, seldom a day goes by that Mom does not have a family visit. We have had direct interaction with probably all of the management and support staffs including the charge nurses, and most of the direct care individuals. We have observed mentoring and some of the training of new staff. We are well pleased with all. In addition to the willingness of the direct care personnel, we should also mention the personal investment in excellent service exhibited by the activities coordinator and dietary staff. And we can’t forget the maintenance coordinator, always quick to address any need. Hearth and Home performs all facets of providing an enriched environment for their residents. Management and staff have continued to exhibit commitment to the mission of Hearth and Home to provide a final home to their residents throughout the changes that aging brings. They have good integration and working relationships with 3rd party Hospice organizations which has proven invaluable in Mom’s case. They are quick to respond to changing health needs by managing the interface with a local Primary Care Doctor’s office and capably coordinate care when needed with local hospitals, emergency services, and a contracted Pharmacy. The facility is updated regularly-new flooring and furniture in the past few months; and decorated with seasonal and holiday freshening. Birthdays and holidays as well as other personally important commemorations such as Veterans, Mothers and Fathers days are celebrated. There is a beautiful, well maintained, enclosed garden / courtyard that Mom enjoys. In all we believe that Mom is in the best place possible for her needs and abilities and we only wish we had moved her in sooner.

An employee came into work, knowing full well that she was Covid positive. Employee was fired, but they decided to wait a full day after knowing to test residents, and 2 full days to begin testing the staff. Oh but not rapid tests, because apparently, mitigating the spread of Covid to the elderly isn't important to an establishment whose purpose is to keep them alive and well. Disgusting. The only immediate action was to close all of the residents doors and keep them in their rooms. That's all well and good, except for the fact that many residents are a fall risk and having the door closed means they could be lying on the floor for quite some time before anyone notices. Great plan though! Take your loved one to a facility that's actually in the business of taking care of them, not this mismanaged cesspool.
