Don't put an elderly person in this place. They stopped meal services - a major reason older people move in to a retirement facility - to avoid shopping & cooking - or they just can't do it. This is what they expected when choosing to live here. Also loss of socializing with others at meal time. This is NOT safe. Changed laundry appliances to coin operated - unbelievable based on the cost to live there !! Many have already moved out. They must be planning to sell the property or rent to others at a higher profit margin. Unbelievable & Outrageous what they are doing to the paying residents still left there !!

Overall pretty nice place the apartments are nice and the outside area is nice however this part of town maybe not so much. It's convenient since it's right off the max line. But maybe it could be signed a little bit better as it was hard to find without my math navigating me and security was absolutely not helpful in this matter.

The wonderful residents and staff at Hazelwood are what make it a great retirement community.

The leasing staff at Hazelwood accepted someone to live in their community that is medically too fragile and too physically impaired to be successful in their community (aka gross and fine motor issues, blindness, MS, no bowel and bladder control, potentially suffering from mental illness, and cannot care for her own basic needs). Since she was accepted into Hazelwood she did not entertain more appropriate housing options like a nursing home facility. You'd think for Hazelwood's own liability sake, and the safety and liability of a potential resident, they would better pre-screen potential leases, especially for medical and mental health issues, to ensure that the placement is appropriate, instead of accepting someone that's well beyond the capacity of Hazelwood to effectively manage the care of. As an additional update, I contacted multiple Hazelwood staff after she had moved in explaining that she didn't have a guardian/power of attorney figure and to stop calling us thinking we were her guardian. The staff didn't communicate with each other at all, and the calls continued. We blocked Hazelwood's phone number & after we did that, the calls still continued as the staff would call using their personal cell phones or let her borrow their cell phones to call us. The Hazelwood staff were calling because, no surprise, they were concerned about her medical, mental, financial health and didn't know what to do. If Hazelwood can't communicate among their staff basic things like whom a resident's guardian is/isn't, think about what information they potentially might not be communicating accurately that's more impactful to the health/safety/well-being of your parent/loved one.
