I can’t speak to the assisted living aspect side of HarborChase, but I would not recommend the Memory Care facility to anyone. Despite the Memory Care branding, you’re renting a room and paying for meals. The nursing team cannot manage the most common behaviors of dementia and Alzheimer’s patients, such as bathing, feeding and incontinence care. After my father was assessed and approved by the team as a fit, we were told we needed to bring in a private caretaker - a separate financial obligation - while he resided in the facility. Business is business, but this is not the solution for families that are truly seeking support, compassion and reliability while navigating this awful disease.

Harbor Chase provides a beautiful environment where caring and capable staff provide support for each and every resident. And it’s that caring approach … for each and every resident … that is why we are so pleased to have our aging family members living there. Whether it’s in assisted living or memory care, the facility is clean, well maintained, filled with activities, and residents are treated with dignity and respect. Visit and see for yourself.

Four years ago, I moved my mother from western North Carolina to Wilmington, Delaware. I chose Harbor Chase because I wanted Mom to live just a few minutes from my home. I was attracted by the cleanliness and high-end decor, the natural sunlight throughout the building, and the friendly staff.

Mom enjoyed her first year and a half in Assisted Living, and benefitted from the morning exercise class and the socialization at each of the three daily meals. The chefs at Harbor Chase served a wide variety of well prepared foods, and whenever I dined with Mom I commented on the high quality. My mother’s favorite days were Holiday Cookouts, when we dined outside, as well as occasions when live musicians entertained and she could participate in sing-alongs.

Later, Mom moved into The Cove, the memory care wing, where there were fewer residents and a very predictable routine. For awhile she found the small group games and crafts engaging, and she always enjoyed her meals. When she needed less stimulation, Mom was given the option to sit in a quiet area near a fireplace.
I believe the staff and nurses and caregivers at Harbor Chase cared for my mother and brought cheer into her last days.

HarborChase is one of the best Assisted Living Places in Delaware! The folks who work there are awesome and give excellent care to all the residents. They go over and above to keep everyone there entertained and couldn't be nicer! Hard workers all of them! 5 stars!

We are in the beginning stages of senior living research and our tour with Debbie was amazing. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We were made to feel like part of the family. Thank you so much!
