First run from this place, Rick in the financial department is Money hungry! On Thursday April 16th I went to visit my father. I went in the room his mouth was open, gray skin sunken eyes he was gone , passed away. His sheet was straight, his hands were on his stomach as if someone not sure who knew he was dead. I was shocked, went to nurses station they were laughing having a good time. I said I think my father passed away. 2 nurses went to his room. Indeed he was gone I cried loudly. I went there 9 30 am. 9 41 they said time of death . Did no one see he was DEAD did no breakfast person see this. There was no breakfast tray . When he was alive and I would visit , said nurses would yell at him cause they had to change his diaper. I had a screaming match with nurse STATING THIS IS YOUR JOB , YOUR CAREER YOU CHOSE STOP YELLING DOWN AT PATIENTS . IF YOUR LOOKING FOR YOUR LOVE ONE TO DIE THEN THIS IS A GREAT PLACE FOR YOU

My loved one has been a resident at Grand Pointe Healthcare Center for a year and a half. The facility’s Administrator, Tiara Bivins, has been very diligent in answering my questions and addressing my concerns. When we initially met, she encouraged me to provide honest feedback as she was new to the facility and wanted to address any gaps involving staffing, resident care, etc. Overall, I am very pleased thus far. I appreciate the dialysis center being on-site. That was a plus in making my decision. As with any facility, there are areas for improvement. Nothing is 100% great all the time and we all should know that finding the right employees in any industry is challenging in this day and age. As a caregiver I find it essential to advocate for your loved one and make your presence known to staff and management. I’ve done just that and have developed a good rapport with the nursing and aide staff who are friendly and most are doing their best. I recommend Grande Pointe for those seeking long or short-term care for their loved one. Take care and God bless.

Tiara, the Administrator, and Maria, the Director of Nursing, are amazing leaders who go above and beyond to ensure every resident is cared for with kindness and respect. They make sure families are always informed and welcomed, creating a warm and supportive environment. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one will be truly cared for, Grande Pointe is the best choice.

TRUE EVALUATION AFTER coming here almost everyday for three weeks while my dad was here. I found Grand Pointe ok, when it came to memory care. My dad was here for a couple of weeks before I moved him. The start was rough but they did have an activities manager that got people up and dancing. However, I came on the 4th of July, I didn’t see anything going on. Holidays should be fun, with food and laughter(it was quiet as a mouse there). The roommate situation and how they handle patients was a different story. I don’t believe they have a good handle on patients who keep walking into others rooms. I believe this is a true safety concern that can get a resident hurt which is why we had to leave. They try their best but this is a huge problem. If that wasn’t an issue my dad could’ve stayed longer. Some days were hit or miss when it came to foul smells of urine. The rooms are ok but kinda small and bathrooms come with shower. The food was ok, but I tried a potato chip and it was stale for one of the meals. The staff doesn’t report patient incidents the way they should, so if a patient gets into a physical altercation, you probably won’t know about it until your loved one tells you(your loved one should be verbal for this place). The staff was ok, but my dad did have some wild stories of how the nurses and aids were being before we left. Due to his dementia, I don’t know what was true from not true… but at least now, I don’t hear about all these claims since we have moved him. I would say this is an Ok, facility.. not the worse, not the best, just ok. I wouldn’t recommend for people who can’t walk, talk, or eat on their own. This facility is better for those who still have control of themselves but just need assistance and monitoring. Not for those completely in need of help with everything. For the most part, they always answer their phones, but they take residents items.. at my dads new nursing home, he’s allowed to have the items Grande Pointe didn’t allow.. possibly due to the other residents and location. There’s a rude man who called me demanding my dads information who sounded like the police, very very rude… but that’s why I rated 3 out of 5. A true rating would be 2.75

I toured this facility recently and I was very impressed. Beautiful facility and all the staff seemed very friendly! The residents appeared happy and looked well! I also liked that it’s tucked away in a quite area of Richmond! Highly recommend!
