When I worked there for a few months in 2022 on weekends for my mother, their rating was much lower at 2.5. The way they treated employees was disrespectful and unacceptable. I can say that they have only gotten worse. They don't even bother having an oncall number anymore. My aunt and my mother have left messages since last night! No one answers, and no one has the bare-minimum professional courtesy of returning a phone call. My aunt was sick and my mother was left without a caregiver this morning. You are a CARE AGENCY and you are supposed to at least, be SOMEWHAT AVAILABLE. If you want banker's hours, then go work at a bank and leave the caregiving profession to people who actually CARE.

My family has had an extremely disturbing and painful experience with Golden Years Home Care Services — specifically with their PCA, Martha Torres. After receiving an emergency call that my elderly father had been rushed to the hospital, we arrived and waited over 30 minutes to see him. When Martha Torres showed up, we informed her the hospital was still settling him. Despite this, she went to the front desk and blatantly lied, claiming we had given her permission to go in ahead of us. This resulted in us being denied the chance to see our critically ill father — an absolutely devastating and traumatizing moment for our family. I believe Martha Torres did this intentionally in an effort to manipulate the situation and lie about her whereabouts. Based on the information we’ve gathered, we suspect she was not even at the property when the ambulance was called by the nurse — and she may have been trying to cover this up by getting to him first. This is just one part of a larger pattern of negligence and manipulation. Martha Torres has been using my father’s food stamps for her personal groceries, and she’s been manipulating him into believing she’s doing him a favor by transporting him to appointments and picking up his medication — services that are her responsibility as his caregiver. We also have extensive documentation of the horrifying condition my father was living in under this agency’s care: mold in his shower, mice droppings on and around his food and dishes, an unclean apartment, and bedsheets that hadn’t been changed in months. These are clear signs of neglect and an utter lack of care for his dignity and well-being. I’ve filed formal complaints with the company and reported them to the Boston regional office. To date, nothing has been done. My family and I are now in the process of forwarding all documented evidence to an attorney. This company needs to be thoroughly investigated for misconduct, neglect, manipulation, and potential elder abuse. No family should have to go through what we’ve experienced.

I have been with Golden Years since 2021, initially starting as a caregiver and currently serving as the receptionist. Golden Years offers numerous opportunities for growth within the company, and I am truly passionate about my work and helping others. While there are challenges along the way, overall, it’s a great place to work, where I have the privilege of meeting wonderful people.
