I live in Texas, my brother in northern Virginia. He was transferred to this facility for rehab after surgery. One of the first conversations I had with anyone was with a social worker who had deemed my brother “incapacitated” and incapable of signing his own paperwork. They wouldn’t even ask him what his hobbies and interests were. This was a shock to me. I talk to my brother frequently, and he’s far from incapacitated. Knowing full well that I possess absolutely no legal authority over my brother, they emailed me a DNR order and a “Resident’s Rights” paper to sign on his behalf. No, I didn’t sign anything. Multiple attempts at communication were unanswered until I threatened to involve APS. I have filed requests for investigation from VDH-OLC. What may be a blessing in disguise is that my brother was transferred to the hospital after the infection at his surgical site got worse and “all of his sutures were ripped out”. Unfortunately, this resulted in more surgery and he has since been transferred to a different rehab. PUBLIC RECORDS OF INVESTIGATIONS ARE AVAILABLE. LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP.

I needed a place for my husband to go after 12 days of being in the hospital and needing rehab. So we went to check it out. I was so surprised to see such a worn down, urine smelling place in well off Fairfax City. There was screaming and crying down the hallways and I felt like I was in a third world country. We arrived to a room with another patient yelling, “I hate this place!” My husband would be sharing a place like this! Even though I was worried I could take of him myself, I could not leave him a place like this. So I took him right home and hired sitters to heal him. It cost out of<br>pocket but he healed much quicker than being in that scary place. Who can I call to report this inhumane place ? Does Fairfax County even do quality checks on these places?

No rehab center is without problems but after spending time in three rehab centers this is without any doubts the worst.<br>1. Medicine not given at correct times<br>2. Food terrible, the only meal that was edible was when families were visiting. I and many others lost significant weight making rehab more difficult.<br>3. Place dirty especially rooms.<br>3. Response time from staff is poor. Many times having to wait up to two hours for assistance with soiled briefs. Water another issue , the ice machine was broken always whether this was true or just staff being” lazy”.<br>4. Noticed that many items were duplicated in billing and reaching staff member is impossible. You’ll get leave voice mail and I’ll return your call. This is a sad joke.<br>5. The staff does not answer calls, you are automatically sent to voice mail with an assurance that they will get right back to you. I’m still waiting. From my observation it is not because of “business” they was taking place but social time for people at desk for both nurses and aides.<br>This might be the most poorly administered rehab facility in the DMV. Just an observation , sign out front says voted number 1 in DMV but that was under previous ownership.
