I had a most pleasurable experience last week at Dick’s, as have been all my visits there. I stopped in to check if they had received an order from my Dr. for a cane, and was waited on by Crystal. Although it was around lunch time, she took the time to locate the order, check for insurance coverage, and show me my choices of canes. Then upon inquiring for the automated phone number for ordering CPap supplies, she stated she could take care of checking on what I was due for, since I was already there. Within minutes, I walked out of there with my cane, and all my up to date CPap supplies! I can’t commend Crystal enough for her pleasantness, kindness, and professionalism. She went way beyond what was necessary to accommodate my needs! I can’t speak for any one else’s experience, but at times we can ask, even demand, to be accommodated in a not so cordial tone and expect to be catered to. You get out what you put into it. Thanks again, Crystal!

I also find the customer service to be very poor at least when using their 800 number as I had recently called re: my c-pap supplies which were past due and the lady was not friendly and somewhat rude as well as very abrupt with me on the phone. I imagine this is the main office in Altoona and also after emailing them I never heard any response.. I have had very good experiences at the Chambersburg office in the past though. Since posting the above review I would currently give them a 4 Star as my more recent experiences have been much better and with some different staffing from the previous review I think the customer service has improved. I am not sure where to even begin. I dread dealing with Dick’s medical supplies. I’ve been receiving medical supplies for 3.5 years with zero issues from my previous supplier. Since moving to Franklin County in 2024, I thought a place I could actually go to in-person would be helpful. 1) I was to have an in-home nocturnal sleep test done in April. I never heard anything about it. I assumed it fell through on my pulmonologist office. Visited pulmonologist again, ordered another sleep study. That’s been almost 2 weeks. Pulmonary office checked their files and they’ve contacted Dick’s twice for this sleep study. They have never once contacted me so we’ll see what becomes of that. 2) I wanted to get new headgear for my Cpap machine since I had stopped receiving from my previous supplier. The lady told me I would have to pay out of pocket. So I opted to wait until insurance would pay for it. Several weeks later, Pulmonologist Dr asked me if I had gotten it and I told them no and what had happened. During my appointment the nurse called Dick’s and then told me everything was all set up at Dick’s and that I could get it that day. Insurance WOULD HAVE paid for it the first time, the lady was incorrect. I went right over to Dick’s and after hem hawling around, they finally found where my insurance would pay for my headgear. Ok great. I asked if I could look at the different headgear options because they showed them to me when I had been in previously. The girl told me I couldn’t look at them, rather I’d have to come back the next day to pick up my Cpap headgear. I told her kindly I’d recognize it because I saw it when I was in several weeks prior. Again, she told me I couldn’t look at them; meaning I couldn’t look at them through the package- I wasn’t going to open them but nope. I told her I live 30 minutes away and didn’t need to come back to town the next day so I was doing all my errands in one day. I call my husband and he wasn’t home to give me my headgear information. So I left. Eventually, my husband got the info so I begrudgingly went a third time for my Cpap supplies. I really wasn’t hopeful by this point. The employee didn’t know how to run it through the insurance or something and had to get a manager. All I could do was sit there in disbelief at all my interactions with Dick’s medical supplies. Thank goodness my supplies needed weren’t a life and death issue. West Virginia gets bad raps on a lot of things but I’ll tell ya what, the medical supply industry was marvelous and my supplies showed up regularly on my doorstep every 3 months for 3 years. Absolutely ZERO issues ever. Now I’ll wait and see if they call me for this nocturnal sleep test that the dr has sent over twice. 🙄
