Visited my sister twice today. I go to feed her lunch and dinner. Lunch went fine, but when we had the call light on at dinner, no one came in for at least half hour. We needed some more crackers for the soup. After about 10min, I just went to the kitchen myself to get them. Maybe they were short handed.😕

Our experience at this facility was deeply disappointing and, ultimately, unacceptable. During my mother-in-law's stay, there were multiple occasions where she was left sitting in soiled clothing and bedding for extended periods of time. Basic hygiene and personal care appeared to be neglected unless family members repeatedly intervened. At one point, the bathroom in her room remained covered in feces and was not cleaned despite being reported. After waiting hours for assistance, I ended up cleaning it myself. What was especially concerning was being told by a staff member that another resident would reportedly enter various rooms to use the bathrooms. If true, this raises serious concerns about supervision, safety, and sanitation. My mother-in-law was admitted for rehabilitation with the goal of regaining independence, managing her medications, and rebuilding the skills necessary to return home safely. Instead, she spent the vast majority of her time confined to bed. Despite being unable to safely manage many daily tasks on her own, we were repeatedly told she was considered "independent" simply because she could walk a short distance with a walker from her bed to the bathroom. We were also informed that she required a diabetic diet when going into the facility. However, desserts continued to be served with her meals despite multiple requests to address the issue. We were told that the kitchen was short-staffed, but they would correct the issue promptly. This was not rectified until the last day or two of her stay. Adding to our frustration, we later received a billing issue dating back to November. We have visited the facility in person multiple times and made numerous phone calls seeking clarification. To date, no one has returned our calls or provided assistance. While there were individual caregivers who showed genuine compassion and kindness, it was clear they were overwhelmed and stretched far too thin. The facility appeared significantly understaffed, which seemed to affect the quality of care residents received. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility. Families place tremendous trust in rehabilitation and care centers during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Unfortunately, that trust was not earned here.

I was leary trying to find a skilled nursing facility for my 93 old dad that is clean, caring and compassionate. (My last experience for Dad at another facility in Mesa was definitely not that.) Desert Cove, however, is a breath of fresh air as their staff is so kind to not only Dad, but to me as well. They are diligently working to get him stronger so he can go home. I have been so impressed and I’m so happy I found Desert Cove. Thank you!

My dad has stayed here for the past six months. The staff is very good and supportive. I have dealt with a lot of facilities that don't do as much as Desert Cove. You can count on the staff here to put up decor for each holiday and have a lot of activities for residents. The staff is very attentive to my father and he loves the attention. There are some very special people here like Patrice, Clemintine, Elizabeth, and many more friendly folks. I take my mother to visit my father and she gets a lot of support from the staff, it's very refreshing with such a hard situation. And I can vouch that the food is "Good" I have eaten my father's plate a dozen times. They also have brand new flooring and a brand new paved parking lot. The entrance and reception area is very nice. If I need a break, I can sit in a comfortable chair up front and decompress. I see a lot of good stuff here...

I was in the facility for over a month and I must say I don’t have many complaints! I was there recovering from surgery. The administration was very on point in terms of informing me of things I needed to be aware of during the process of transitioning and during my stay. My Specialty Dr. appointments were scheduled with transportation arranged to accommodate my wheelchair needs. I also had immediate access to my medical records upon request without hesitation. The staff knew me by name even before I could name them. Physical & Occupational therapy daily. The CNAs were very attentive to my call light. The Nurses were on top of my medications and the Dr. addressed my pain needs to help me be comfortable. And OMG! the food was surprisingly Good! It surpassed my expectations! The food services Manager was trying to fatten me up with my customized orders! Now on to the next phase of recovery…Thank you Desert Cove!
