Reviewers consistently praise the front-desk, concierge, and dining staff by name, and independent living residents describe a lively, well-kept community with lots of activities and walking trails near Mount Tabor Park. However, a cluster of detailed, more recent reviews describe serious problems in the Memory Care (Pavilion) building — frequent director turnover, hygiene and cleanliness lapses, and billing disputes — that coincide with a change in management to MBK Healthcare Management.

The dining program needs a complete overhaul/reboot. The only thing that is consistent is the inconsistent service and food quality. My aunt and I have had the same experience dozens and dozens of times: A long wait to be acknowledged, long wait for food (45 minutes to an hour sometimes), incomplete orders, poor quality food, cold food, being ignored by waitstaff, a dirty dining room, and a general feeling of apathy from upper management. Yeah, there's a new culinary director, but it's the same old song and dance. Nothing has really changed.

Our noon meal today, August 3, was a delight to behold and a joy to experience. It was Nicoise Salad with Basil Lemon Vinaigrette.

I would like on a review I read about food service at Courtyard. As a resident of Courtyard for the past 6 years, I have experienced the dining room service. It was minimal and when I first arrived but has improved 90 percent in the past year since Attila Szlovack took over the reins. He is an outstanding manager and human being who is dedicated to our residential needs. I know this because I have been in management most of my life and can assure this fact. I am proud of accomplishments and would invite anyone that disagrees with me to contact me and tell me anything different. Please join me in support of this special person.

I hate to say something negative because there are many good employees here but the food service is an issue. The recently hired manager has increased the food quality but there are ongoing glaring problems. The coffee in the bistro room runs out at 7:30am everyday and they NEVER refill it. Residents are served incomplete meals. You have to ask 2-3 times for ketchup for fries, ranch for salad, tartar sauce for the fish etc. Why do the servers always drop the meals in front of the residents without realizing or even asking if they want dressing for their salad or ketchup with their fries and they never return to check on people so if you don’t advocate for the resident, they get screwed over. Only half of the tables have sugar or sweetener. A lot of the menu books have pages missing. The new food services manager has NEVER been seen in the dining room during meals. He doesn’t coach his staff or check on residents while they are eating or waiting for service. He has no clue what is happening in the dining room. For some reason, he doesn’t care. Major changes are needed.
