Size and Strength

When you choose an Erickson Living-managed community, you’re not just choosing the area’s most popular retirement destination. You’re enjoying all the benefits that come from being part of a national network of communities serving 27,000 seniors in 11 states.

As a family of campuses, we’re able to leverage our size to bring the best services and resources to residents all across the country for the best price.

The Best and Brightest Staff

Working at an Erickson Living-managed community isn't just a job, it’s a vocation. We search the country for talented individuals who are passionate about serving seniors to ensure residents enjoy an unparalleled lifestyle. Perhaps that’s why our communities are regularly recognized among the best places to work and live in their area.

We Learn From the Experts of the Residents

Since opening the first community in 1983, we’ve depended on residents to help us create communities where seniors can live a happier, healthier life. Every campus has a resident council that works side-by-side with the community leadership team to ensure we’re meeting the needs and desires of today’s retiree.

Innovators in Senior Services

To support our efforts to help seniors live better lives, Erickson Living has developed resources and services other retirement communities don't offer, including:

Erickson Health Medical Group: The largest integrated health and wellness system for older adults in the United States. Our highly trained physicians are experts in senior health care.

Tribune: A monthly publication featuring news for today’s seniors. With a current circulation of approximately 500,000, the Tribune reaches retirees in over a dozen states. This unique publication offers a blend of feature articles, columns, blogs, and contests. All editorial content is original and crafted specifically for our readers.

Erickson Advantage: an exclusive health insurance plan available only to residents*. Erickson Living-managed communities are the only CCRCs in the nation authorized to offer their own health insurance plan. For more information, visit the Erickson Advantage website.

*Plans are insured through UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company or one of its affiliated companies, a Medicare Advantage organization with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in the plan depends on the plan’s contract renewal with Medicare.

We would NOT recommend Highland Springs to anyone. We had our father in the memory care facility at Highland Springs from Fall 2014 to Fall 2015. The experience was very traumatic. While it's a beautiful looking facility we had numerous issues. First, there were multiple instances where our father fell and was left lying on the ground for several hours. We had a camera in our room so we could see the time he was left there. Even though the staff said they would do hourly checks after the first incident we kept having this issue come up. We moved to having a caregiver at night, but found that we needed someone there 24/7 due to the lack of care (at one point he lost part of his finger when it got caught in a door). We weren't the only ones with additional staff. We also found ourselves having to take our dad to the hospital for random medical issues and having to actively manage his day to day care - this despite the fact that they have caregivers, nursing and doctors on staff. Finally, the costs became extremely expensive. Not only were we paying more out of pocket for the additional care, but there was no cap on what they can charge. We heard some people ended up being charged thousands of dollars extra a month because their points kept going up (they have a point system which is the basis of how they charge). Ultimately we felt our father was neither safe nor happy, and all this while our costs kept going up. It was extremely difficult to move him as anyone can imagine, but it is night and day with our new set up. The new facility really understands how to manage their residents, works as a cohesive unit with the family, the doctor, their nurses and staff to give him truly quality care. We are now visiting family members as opposed to active managers of our dad's care and we have never had to take him to the ER/hospital. Finally, we pay the same monthly rate no matter what happens for the duration.
