My husband was in the memory unit for about a month and a half. At the beginning I had mix feelings in regard to the services. Let me start with his diet. I requested a low sodium diet, and yes the person in charge of the kitchen sat with me and presented a special menu, which was offered for few days until not any more. In regard to administrators, they are two ladies who at the moment of signing were friendly and compassionate, but then they turn indifferent and unfriendly even with an attitude when I approached for questions.
The lady in charge of the activities is very good, but one person can do so much.
The rooms are never cleaned. I had to do it myself because the smell was unbearable, and I know for sure my husband was not shower as often as he should have. One morning I arrived during breakfast time and after that I took him to his room. When I helped him to the bathroom I noticed his diaper was super loaded of urine. I was literally gagging and requested assistance right away. The excuse was they though he was clean.
The rooms are lock even for those poor residents that can handle be in theirs. One time one lady was almost crying saying that if she was paying for a room, how come she couldn't go in.
She asked to consult the administrator and the response was that the rooms were being cleaned, which was not true.
My husband was very depressed and his condition definitively worsen. All he did was seat in front of the TV and activities once a week.
Based on all of these circumstances I notified a month in advance that I was taking him home. When we were leaving I asked for a discharge paperwork and they say "No, we don't do this" and when I requested his medication, the lady was extremely unfriendly, and today (two weeks later) I'm shock to see a charge of $487 for an unknown reason.
Now among all the thing that I have to take care off, I have to go to this place and request an explanation and refund.
I honestly don't recommend to take your love ones to this place, specially if this is for the memory unit.
