My visit to Civita Care Center at Newington was very pleasant. I was greeted by staff as soon as I entered and asked how they might assist me. I inquired about a walk-through of the facility as my sister had been referred to for long-term. It only took minutes before I was approached by the Admissions Director and given a tour of the premises. Her personal and caring ways made me feel comfortable and understood. I would highly recommended Civita Care to anyone needing their services.

My father was accepted into the facility on one condition only, he was to be placed in secured locked unit even though he is currently at a SNF and NOT in a secured locked unit. When I asked why, Sarah said Due to his past and present elopement risk, we are only able to offer a bed here at our facility on our secure memory care unit. He uses wandergard at the current facility and Civita also has wandergard. When I responded to her with facts of and questions, she never responded. I also scheduled a tour with Sarah, made an appointment and then she was not available. As I was touring, they had been undergoing renovations, the current patients were complaining that there was nothing to do and they didn't want to sit in their rooms all day. I was also informed that they eat all meals in their rooms still following covid guidelines from 6 years ago.... the patients are expected to sit in their rooms 24 hours a day, which is very sad. They are under new ownership but clearly they need new management and to hire new staff.

Telling us we can’t see or contact my grandmother through the phone is beyond me. The judge didnt even know why this is and the care facility are under no orders to say we can’t call her and she can’t call us. She is in a locked room with no danger to herself or others. Not getting her a SIBO test even though I’ve sent 2 letters to their facility telling them to do so. 2 nurses already sent my grandmother into the hospital, the latest date was Halloween when she fell on her knees and bumped her head and the care facility has no recollection that this even took place, yet the hospital in New Britain told me everything. Please stay away from this place!!!

Let me tell you this facility is amazing! I visited a friend in their rehab unit a bunch of times over the last few weeks. I’m amazed every time at how kind and caring the nursing staff is. And I’ve got to say, those therapists are DEDICATED. Super experienced and a nice clean therapy gym also. The staff is great from the top down, a guy named Jon was also helpful, really went out of his way for us.
