This place is HORRIBLE!!!!! Stay FAR FAR AWAY PLEASE!! If you love your elderly family please stay away. Especially if they can’t communicate what’s going on because they will neglect them!!!! Takes them hours to come for the call bell. It always smells like poop from accidents and they don’t clean the people in a timely manner. The place is actually disgusting like they never clean it. You have to request for them to clean things that you should never have to ask. The toilets are always dirty and the floors. The workers sleep in the night time instead of going to help anyone who presses for the call button. You have to make a scene to simply get your medication. I am so scared for any elderly people there who don’t have anyone to advocate for themselves. I’m scared for people who have serious things wrong with them like infections and what not because the staff barely listens to you and any concerns. I hear people yelling for help from their rooms and I see the employees secretly sleeping. It almost as if they come to work overnights to sleep. This is sad because as peoples family members are crying for help in the night, the employees are sleeping comfortably. There are mice in this place! This means mice can get at your loved ones food in the room and at whatever else. I heard a pretty old lady complained of being scared of getting raped, I don’t know why but that really scared me as well. One of the workers told me that a man got fired recently for sexual harassment. The employees will come in your room to talk to you in English and then they will talk to each other in their language which is uncomfortable and rude. There is water on the floor spilled often or other liquids and that is a hazard as mostly everyone is either in a wheel chair or using a walker. There was a towel with pee all over it in the hall way which is a common area for everyone to sit. It sat there all night until I left i don’t know when it was cleaned or if the cushion itself was even cleaned properly. There are bare minimum things and there are no such things as luxuries here. The food is horrible and always cold. The temperature inside is either too hot or freezing, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Place is just simply disgusting I’m sorry I can’t say it enough! I am righting this review because I am leaving here soon and people need to be warned about this place. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR ELDERY FAMILY HERE I AM WARNING YOU NOW!!!!!! There is so much more I can stay and so much more I can sit here and remember please listen to me when I say to STAY AWAY!!!!

My father had been scheduled to be placed in Charlwell on a Wednesday morning in Oct 2025, but we ended up arriving later in the afternoon. Upon arrival, the front desk had no record of my father’s admission and we were sent to an unattended nursing station. When a staff member finally appeared, he directed us to a room that was filthy - the floors and walls were visibly dirty, the side table was damaged and contained used silverware, and leftover belongings were scattered on the floor. My father’s bed lacked safety rails. Outside the room, a fan indicating an issue with moisture. The overall environment was unhygienic and completely unacceptable. When I raised concerns, staff were dismissive and rude, saying they were “in the middle of reports.” A manager later offered to have the room cleaned, but a safe, clean space should have been ready before a patient arrived - not after a complaint. The lack of preparation, cleanliness, and professionalism we encountered was deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable for a facility entrusted with the care of vulnerable individuals. Leadership should be ashamed that a facility under their direction operates in such poor condition. It’s appalling that those who cannot advocate for themselves are forced to endure this level of neglect. If you are thinking of sending a loved one here, DON'T.

0 stars This is not a favorable review. I was in Charlwell March and April 2025. It was a terrible institution and I call it that on purpose because that’s what it was like. Do not trust the positive reviews, as several residents said management pulled them aside, and wrote fake positive reviews of their experiences. I was there for rehab and am a 42 year old woman who had an external fixator due to a catastrophic ankle injury. This was supposed to be cleaned daily (Nurse Amelia cleaned is most frequently, other nurses only do nice or twice out of 45+ days) it was not cleaned when needed, and as a result I developed sepsis and almost died. I was in the ICU, and there was talk of amputation. I laid in bed with sepsis symptoms for 3 days. The only reason I did not die at charlwell, was because of Nate and Leah (therapists) and their advocacy to send me to the emergency room immediately. I was dropped from the hoyer 2 times, due to staff that couldn’t coordinate working at a lemonade stand let alone equipment that couldn’t seriously injure someone. Patients roamed the halls, with and without clothes, defecating in furniture as CNAs would laugh, apparently it was funny. CNA care (except for Gigi, Barbara and Fluer and a night lady who was a nurse whose name I forget) was inconsistent and poor, often waited hours for it. Food was terrible and plates were very scarce and always cold. There were some people who cared, they were in Activities, the 3 ladies were amazing, as well as the new DON, and Natalie, who departed. If you shared issues (which I did a lot to try to advocate for the patients who couldn’t) with administration staff, you would often become a target, as admins would not handle problems appropriately. In fact when I didn’t go back to be subjected to more, the administrator ghosted me on the phone, which made it very difficult to obtain my belongings. You’d run out of pain meds, and be instructed to wait it out over a weekend, until Monday crew could solve. Often waited hours past med due times, for pain meds, in significant pain. I got several bed sores while there due to improper care and leaving my bed soaked especially weekends. The bed actually began to smell moldy because so much liquid (from dirty sheets) was left in it for long periods. At one point another patient cut himself by accident CNAs were gathered in one room watching tv (a regular thing, also sleeping on shift was), and refused to assist him until I screamed out “I’m calling 911”. If you needed assistance after 6PM, you were basically out of luck. Also they had rodents including Rats, which I found out from maintenance. They also forgot to feed me, for an entire weekend (Friday night to Monday am) when I came back from a hospital visit. This place was hell on earth. And the few that cared about the people and their jobs, were sadly overshadowed by the mass. This place should be shut down.

I recently visited a loved one at Charlwell Rehab Facility and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was warm, friendly, and attentive. It’s clear that they genuinely care about the well-being of the residents. In particular, the administrator, Jamie Carr, stood out for her kindness and professionalism. She was incredibly caring and took the time to ensure everything was running smoothly, which gave me great peace of mind. The facility itself was in pristine condition—clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. It didn’t feel clinical or impersonal; instead, it had a comforting and supportive atmosphere that made the visit feel much more reassuring. Overall, I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend Charlwell Rehab Facility to anyone looking for quality care for their loved ones.

I had my mother there, for 2 weeks I had to get her out! It was filthy even the tables were filthy with stuck in food. The rooms including the hall smells like urine. Honestly I would not send my dog there. My mom ended up having blood clots in her lungs, heart, and leg. She could have died. Calling for help and no one went in. Until finally someone went in and called the ambulance. If there was a Zero rating I would have put minus Zero. If you love your loved one please don't send them to charwell. The advertisement is a lie. Nothing they claim it to be. I felt like I needed to let people know what this place is really like. Please don't send your loved one here.
