Canyon Villas Retirement Community

Where do I begin to describe the best experience possible transitioning my very independent 89 year old mom (in-law) to assisted living. First, a huge shout out to Cody, Marketing Sales Coordinator, a very special and compassionate young man, that treated us with respect, professionalism and especially support. Secondly, Ileen, Executive Nursing Coordinator, that assessed mom, educated us, and reassured our family and mom's decision for assisted living care. Third, Vonda, CEO, administrator, facilitated a smooth transition, was very professional and very informative. She is truly perfect for her role. Mom's room is lovely and the grounds are well maintained. She believes the food is delicious and the staff helpful, kind and competent. Thank you is not quite adequate, grateful is understated because knowing our precious mom is well cared for means the world to us.

My Mom lives at Canyon Villas Retirement Home. She has been here almost two years. The staff here is very friendly, caring and attentive. She has a button that she can press when she needs help. The wait time is very good. Canyon Villas has a nice atmosphere. It looks like a nice apartment complex. With a nice gazebo,,grass lawn and flowers. It’s very clean, and well maintained. The food in the dining room is very good. They have really fun events too. I really enjoy spending time here with my Mom. They have craft projects. She just made a cute scarecrow lighted vase for fall. They have a seated exercise class and the leader makes it fun. Bingo, virtual reality, shopping trips. Everyone we have made friends with enjoys living here and they tell me, it’s the best place around. I highly recommend it.

My aunt has been at Canyon Villas for 8 years and it has been a good fit as her care needs have increased over time but without the very high prices that some places charge for her higher level of care. When she first moved in to assisted living, we could bring some of her own furniture and pictures to help with the adjustment to a new home. There are daily activities and holiday & birthday events and the food is enjoyable as the menu varies with fresh soups and desserts made daily. Now that she needs more care and oversight, the staff has been super in tending to her aging ailments and moods, her dietary needs including feeding and frequently communicate and welcome family/me to visit. I would recommend Canyon Villas if looking for senior care in San Diego.

My mom needed a place to care for her that was closer to my dad. Thankfully Canyon Villas (CV) had a room for her at the level of care she needed. If you've ever looked in to retirement homes you know they're all pretty expensive, however, CV is very reasonable compared to other retirement homes we looked at especially for what's included. The ground here are well maintained and very modern and beautiful. My mom had a studio which was a nice size with two closets for ample storage. Enough space to maneuver her wheelchair around. The bathroom was a nice size as well. The door was wide enough to get a wheelchair through it and the shower was a walk in with now step so it was easy for her to access. I never ate here but my mom thought the food was really good. So did my dad. He would come visit my mom at dinner time aI can't say enough great things about the staff here! Aurora was so amazing. She went above and beyond to help us get into CV in a crunch for time. She was accommodating and she has a big heart for those in need. Illeen was the head nurse. She was so caring for every resident there. She knew everything about each residence needs and made sure they had it. She was so attentive and so was her staff. They were all on top of it all the time and showed each resident kindness, respect and compassion. Unfortunately, while my mom was a resident there, she had another stroke and went under hospice care. I didn't think CV would take her and I was going to have to put her in a skilled nursing facility. I was wrong. I messaged Illeen to give her a status on my mom and told her she needed hospice care and Eileen immediately responded that they would take her back and she could hospice at CV. They even arrange the hospice care for me. They in tandem with hospice, cared for my mom until her last breath and I couldn't be more grateful. If you or a loved one needs an excellent retirement home this is the place.

After caring for my disabled mother in our home for many years , we were grateful to find Canyon Villas when my mom's needs became too much for us to manage from home.<br><br>She has been very happy there the last several years, and has a vibrant social life which was somethimg difficult for us to create for her.<br><br>The staff is very responsive and has given us the peace of mind of knowing she is well cared for while keeping us in the loop. Thank you Aurora, Nurse Ileen, Nurse Margie and all staff and fellow residents who keep my mom smiling.
