At BRIA facility I experienced an extremely unsafe environment. Within my first week, hundreds of dollars in hygiene items and personal belongings were stolen, along with makeup and clothing. Male residents repeatedly entered my room at night, going through my belongings while I was asleep, including times I woke up to evidence they had been there. I was physically assaulted multiple times, including being punched on my birthday after another resident was given my clothes and felt entitled to them, and another assault over a male resident before a smoke break. I also found what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in my bed and was told a resident had been in my room at 3 a.m. I was pressured and threatened by residents for money, food, and items, and even had a cigarette allegedly laced. My belongings were repeatedly taken or redistributed, and my room had to be moved multiple times for safety. Staff and social work failed to adequately protect me or address repeated reports, and I felt ignored and unsafe throughout my stay.
