My dad was a resident here for a few months.

During his stay, staff frequently struggled to manage his dementia symptoms, including wandering and disinhibition, which we were aware were challenges with his diagnosis.

When he got aggressive because he was confused and believed he was being held against his will, staff did not communicate the situation professionally. Instead of giving me instruction or guidance, I was given fear-driven comments about the possibility of charging a man with advanced dementia with a felony, and was angrily told he could not come back. I was left in the dark about where he even was after this conversation, and didn’t know what the situation was until the hospital called me. I understand that these situations are difficult and potentially dangerous for staff, but I expected better handling and communication of a dementia patient from a memory care unit.
