Our mom moved to Baywoods in April 2026. It is deeply reassuring to know she is surrounded by a caring staff, along with a welcoming community of friends and neighbors. Special thanks to Jim Harrington. He connects with the residents, engaging with them personally to ensure they feel valued.

As residents for 2+ years, my wife and I have been extremelly happy with our life at BayWoods. Our apartment fully meets our needs, the food is very good, the views of the Bay and the local walking trails are nice, and the camaraderie has made it a pleasure to live here. Because BayWoods is a smaller continuing care facility, we have been able to learn the names of most of the residents. This leads to a family type atmosphere. There are plenty of activities to participate in and if you find that you need some attention to physical therapy, it is available onsite. The health center offers continuing care and memory care for those who find their health undergoing changes that no longer permit living alone. The move from a large house to BayWoods turned into a much easier transition than we had expected.

This is a reflection on my nineteen years at BayWoods. Carol and I were in our 60’s when we moved in. Friends asked why we moved at that age. There were two answers. One response was that we enjoy living in a resort. The longer answer is long-range planning. As a Certified Financial Planner Designate, I assisted clients with retirement planning and recognized the benefits of moving to a retirement community before needing to do so. When a need arises, normally a medical need, there could be a two-year or longer wait before a facility you like has an opening. Carol and I had 5-6 years of the good life at BayWoods, then Alzheimer’s slowly took its toll. Because we were living at BayWoods, I could take care of her over the next 5 years. Her last year was in the Health Care Center, a five-minute door-to-door walk. This is a caring community, and help from friends has made the good times better and the tough times easier. It has been a good nineteen years.<br>Mike Long
