What is Assisted Living for seniors?

An assisted living community provides an active way of life with freedom from the responsibilities and just a bit of extra help.

Residents in assisted living enjoy a fantastic lifestyle. Our staff provides services to support seniors, as needed, with activities of daily living so they can maintain their independence. Based on their unique needs and routines, they’ll have help from certified staff at their request, whether it is a bit of assistance with showering, medication maintenance, getting dressed, or simply just someone to talk with. Our staff is available 24/7 to support in every way they can.

We offer housekeeping, laundry services, seasonal cuisine prepared by our chef, transportation services, and overall security to every one of our residents.

In addition, there are supervised exercise programs, a full-service hair salon and barbershop, an activity center, and a cozy library. Beyond all of that, there is an abundance of enriching social and recreational activities and excursions to choose from. But the best of all, you have the freedom to go about your day as you wish.

When is Assisted Living necessary?

It is time to talk to a parent about assisted living if you are concerned about their safety and wellbeing. Involving your loved one in the decision-making before a crisis hits will allow you to choose based on your priorities rather than settling for whatever assisted living community is available. Read more about it here.

Here are some of the signs you might notice when it is time to move into assisted living:

• Is your parent eating well?
• Are their clothes getting too big?
• Is food spoiling in the fridge?
• Are they paying the bills?
• Is unopened mail stacking up?
• Are they changing clothes regularly and cleaning themselves?
• Are they managing their medications appropriately?
• Do they appear depressed or withdrawn from social activities?

I was there for over a year. Wheelchair user. I laid in bed all that time. I only got out if bed is when I had to be admitted to the hospital. No one would get me out of bed there. First month I was there my wallet was found in the parking lot. I had it on a table right next to my bed.
Went months without a shower or my hair washed. Just an occasional bed bath. wheelchair would not fit in the bathroom to easily get to the shower. No one looked for a solution.
While a stay at the hospital someone went i to my apartment and removed my laz boy recliner without my permission. No one would say where it went. I reported to police. Nothing was done by police but I have a police number on file.
I would not recommend this place to anyone

Absolutely a wonderful place. I searched the gauntlet of care facilities in the Meas area and none were as nice and reasonably priced, as Avista. Great staff, great location, great food and a wonderful caring feeling that just hugs you all over! Special thanks to Stacy Z Executive Director, Adam C Plant Operations Director and all the other staff at the facility. Thanks for making my Dad feel so warm and welcome in his time of need. You are ALL very wonderful!

This place is disrespectful to senior citizens, the management lack of compassionate. Me and my wife have been inquiring about the place for months but have no response. Phone calls will be transferred to voice mail. No one would help you if you were there without an appointment. I'm glad that I'm not staying there!

I was there visiting friends and was outside sitting peacefully on a swinging couch with my walker waiting for a handicap bus to pick me up to take me back to my home when a maintenance man walked up to me and shouted “ who are you and what are you doing here” (in broad day light) I was so shocked and offended I told him it was none of his business! I myself reside in a retirement home ( age 76) and I know very well that assisted/ independent residents have full rights to have guests at any hour or the day! When I refused to answer mainly because of of the way he approached me and his loud tone, he became more demanding even after the bus arrived! Then he said that there have been GUNS found and cars stolen!! I looked at him and said… do I look like l have the ability to steal a car?? Do you see a gun on my body?? Then he took off saying I would never be allowed on the property… he came back with another gentleman and demanded that the bus driver who had just assisted me getting into the bus by a LIFT used for handicap people to tell him my name and wanted to get on the bus with the other !gentleman to see my face. So if you , your family or friends wish to have visitors, this would be the last place on earth l would recommend
