They let my best friend fall out of his bed three times, he messed himself numerous times and had a bed sore. When brought to they just ignored his wife and did not turn him as required.

Raising my review because they earned it. Things are much better. Staff, including those that aren’t nurses, will come by to check in when their shifts end. I would name names but I can’t remember e setons and do not want to leave anyone out. I’ll write them all down and update this. They all ask about her “granddog” which makes her day. Avir has been attentive to concerns and it shows. Would still love to see the interior as warm and cozy as the entrance. Less sterile and “institutional”. Keep up the great work! Dropping back down to a 3. Copy and paste of a message to an admin staff member: Resident has been hitting the call button for over 30 minutes with no answer. Needs someone to clean them up, needs a clean shirt, someone left a glove on their bedside tray. Resident and their roommate both said that other than to bring food no one has adequately checked on them today. I called and was IMMEDIATELY put on hold then the call disconnected. Once I finally got someone on the phone they were in the room within 5 minutes. All this time a call light was unanswered. Luckily it was just for hygiene needs. What if it had been something emergent???? It shouldn’t be this tiring or time consuming to make sure a loved one is taken care of in a facility that exists to care for people. Another update: things have improved. Shirley Police is a gem!! So sweet and caring. Improvements worth another star. Would still like to see them freshen up the rooms with paint and slight upgrades. Update: took 24 hours and the patient telling nursing staff they have daily meds they need to take. Are charts/files not read? Then got a great, attentive nurse then a bad one. Still undecided if we’ll be changing. Edit: not having intercoms for when patients push the call button makes me nervous. Regardless of age people are there because they need someone watching out for them. Taking an hour to answer a call request from a patient room isn’t ok. Either they are understaffed or incorrectly staffed. Text I received from loved one “ I slept really good for awhile. Then got a really nasty, hateful, rough one. Trying to remember that she may have problems I don’t know about.” Still on the fence. Only one day with a loved one there so we’ll see how the care and attention goes before updating review. However, don’t let the warm, cozy entrance fool you. As soon as you get past there it is very stark, institutional, a step up from prison. Halls and rooms give the ambiance of sadness and feels dingy. A fresh coat of paint and, some small upgrades and even homey accents everywhere would go a long way.

The facility, to my pleasure, was on a high-level of security. I had to check in and physically, answer questions, after the formal identification criteria, by nodding of the head. This assured me that this apparatus and procedures were, were high-tech, and that my loved-one was safe from any unwanted intrusion. I give this facility and its staff an A+.
