I was skeptical about placing an individual at this facility based on the online reviews, but I must say I had a wonderful experience. The nurses and staff are caring and attentive. I never once felt unattended or neglected, nor did the patient. I think folks forget how difficult a job it is to be a caretaker, and people's expectations don't align with reality. It is an older facility, yes, but it was clean and well-maintained. I have absolutely nothing to complain about. On the contrary, I am saying thank you for the job that no one wants to do.

Monica is very attentive to any situation that goes around. She’s very positive. She keep uplift the patients. She’s very helpful. She even helped clean out my dresser drawers so if you can hire another Monica do it and thank you for having her around.

Again, I make another review about this horrible place. After calling the state and county health department because the roaches, the nurses who don't wear gloves, the way the staff treats patients(including laughing at patients and only speaking to each other in Creole,) I, a double amputee with COPD, and many other medical issues, was literally thrown out of this place last night. No where to go and they did not care at all. They kept my pain medication, which included my Lyrica, that helps with my neuropathy. I was told that I was telling other patients thier rights and made me feel as if I was a criminal, even after they were told not to by my insurance and Medicare. The atrocities that I have seen and have been done to me, I wish on no human, not even a dog. But as I have learned, Woodlake only cares about profits, I was even told I had to change my other Google review because it was hurting their business. Jackie( Im not even sure what she does, but walks around doing nothing) and Pamela(the worst social worker that there ever was) have continued to give the okay for this place to be run like a 3 ring circus. In the end, we all answer to God. They most definitely will. They feed off the fact that if they don't let the residents know that they rights, they may leave. So residents are kept under fear that the nurses won't give them their medication. Seems a trend. Again I say, keep and one that you care for, respect, or love away from this place. There isn't even showers in the rooms, just one communal shower that they don't regularly clean. Do not be deceived by this place. They are hypocrites and Liars. This place needs to be shut down.

Now that we have laid our father to rest, it is time to be his voice. My father (who is a Marine veteran) was admitted to Woodlake on Friday, 1/20/23 with hospice care. I went to see my father the day he arrived. To my surprise there were roaches running around his room. One of the aides stepped on one but did not bother to pick it up. The following day was the same and a dead roach was laying by the bed which was not cleaned. On Sunday he was found with a dirty pillow and his catheter bag on floor leaking. We could not find a nurse or aide. I went to the front desk person who said she could not call anyone. Many hours later an aide came in to fix the tubing which was broken from the bag. On Monday there was yet another roach running around the room. I stepped into the hall and told a nurse or aide there was a roach in the room and she said “Just one?” A nurse from Wood Lake called my brother within a few days after our father was admitted who told him someone would call every day with an update- that was the first and last time they called. We were advised a doctor suggested constant care (24 hours per day) from hospice. It only lasted 2 days and on 3rd day we called Hospice to ask why a person from hospice was not with our father. We were told it was discontinued because he was stable and they did not get around to calling us yet. Another day he was laying sideways with his legs off the bed. I again could not find a nurse or an aide but the maintenance person asked if I needed anything and he found an aide to assist repositioning him on the bed. On 1/28/23, my father’s breathing was abnormal. I pressed the call button and an administrator came in to ask who pressed the button. I said I did and I advised his breathing is not right. She said “well he has a no DNR” I said I don’t care, he is alive now and breathing. She said she would call hospice. Hospice did not arrive at Wood Lake until several hours later and unfortunately my father had already passed. When his heart stopped I ran to nurse station but not one nurse was to be found. There were some aides and I told them but they didn’t seem to care much. After my father passed a nurse came into his room to take his blood pressure and pulse and she said he was still alive and then said no he’s not. After a while of my father passing several nurses, including the head nurse and management came to express their condolences. In the 8 days my father was there we never saw any of these nurses. An aide was helping the other patient in bed A and spilled soda across his bed and onto the floor next to our father’s bed. She did not even clean it up. In addition, after he passed they did not bother to disconnect his catheter so the person from the funeral home had to. He also made a comment on the soda that was spilled. It’s a appalling how skilled nursing facilities are treating our elderly and our veterans who lost their voices, as well as their mental and physical capacity due illness. Shame on you.

In the 15 years thar I have been sick, I have never been treated so poorly, with such lack of compassion, and miss management of pain medication as this facility. The nurses 100% lie about everything they tell you. If you care about yourself or any person that you feel needs help, do not bring them here. The administration and nursing staff is the definition of inept: no skill, clumsy, and they run this place like it's a three ring circus. I have been without my medication for 12 hours now and I am in excruciating pain. Not one nurse cares. Again please do not send anyone that you care about ot respect to this place, they may not come out alive.
