Sadly, my family did NOT have a good experience at Grand Oaks. There were a few nurses, whom I believe were not actually employed by the facility, that gave medication that took time to talk to me about my mother and her care. They would simply say "keep talking to them" about your concerns. My mother was in a room with a difficult patient. I witnessed many staff reacting to the patient as if very annoyed and put-out by having to assist. When they would realize we were on the other side of the room behind a curtain, their disposition would somewhat change. I had to fight for communication about my mother's care and to get her transferred to a facility in Georgia where I could support both my elderly parents. It wasn't until I told them that insurance would be changing on June 1st that they began to work with me. Truly showing me that they were only interested in the fudning tied to my mother's care. We are now at a facility in Paulding County, GA. It is evident just how poor the care was at Grand Oaks now that I am considered part of a care team and working together as a cohesive unit to support my mother's recovery.
