My experience at this facility reflects serious and persistent failures in management and supervisory accountability. Leadership appeared consistently disorganized and reactive rather than proactive, with little visible structure or effective oversight guiding daily operations. Under management and supervisors, there was a noticeable lack of accountability when it came to addressing resident needs and maintenance issues. Concerns that should have been handled promptly were often delayed or seemingly deprioritized, including matters that raised legitimate concerns about safety and proper care standards. Communication from leadership was frequently inconsistent, and follow-through on commitments was unreliable, which contributed to ongoing frustration for both residents and families. From what I observed, staff were often left without clear direction, which resulted in confusion, inefficiency, and a lack of coordination in care delivery. Overall, the issues in my experience included both individual incidents and broader patterns of poor leadership and weak accountability. While some problems were specific and situational, there was also a recurring pattern of ineffective supervision and management practices that significantly impacted operations and resident experience. I believe meaningful improvement would require serious changes in management structure, oversight, and communication practices.

My Mom was a resident for 2 years. Moving a parent to assisted living is a challenging thing but Village Walk made this experience easier for my mom and family. The facility is clean and the staff is excellent. The people at the front desk remember your name and greet you on your way in. The nurses and aides took great care of my Mom. We are grateful to Village Walk and I would recommend them.

The Village Walk was the best thing that could have happened to my 88 year old cousin. They have a terrific Staff and they are taking such wonderful care of her. We were working with a very limited budget and the Village Walk was the only one that would work with me until I could sell her apartment. Her room is beautiful and bright! Thank You Village Walk, I finally have peace of mind.

My mother had been living in an assisted living facility upstate, but as she got older, I felt it was time to move her closer to where I lived. Armed with a list of about 30 pivotal questions, I interviewed 10 different facilities on Long Island. While all of the people I spoke to were quite nice, it was clear that at some places it was all about selling the product, and not so much about my mother and her care. Village Walk was the fourth place that I went to and I spent almost two hours talking with Nicole, who was incredible. The conversation felt like I was talking with an old friend, not someone trying to sell me on a room for my mom. Yet, ultimately, that’s what sold me. I felt comfortable there, I felt the warmth of the environment, I could see that the residents enjoyed their time as they played bingo or sat drinking cappuccinos. As I continued to interview other facilities, Village Walk became the place I was comparing them to, and I found that nothing really did compare. I moved my mother in three days before her 91st birthday and she just loved it. She eagerly got involved in arts and crafts, went on all of the outings to museums, restaurants, shows, parties on the roof, prom, etc. I loved talking to her every evening to find out what wonderful things she did that day. I often told my friends that my mother was living her best life—and she was! She became very close with the staff and thought of them as family. I think that’s one of the things that sets Village Walk apart, the care of the staff, which is the heart of any assisted-living facility. I highly recommend Village Walk If you were looking for a place where you want your loved one to feel like they’re at home, not in a home. A place where they will feel like they are part of a bigger family. A place where they can feel safe, explore new things, meet new people, have fun and, most importantly, feel like they still have purpose.

Tom and Aly brought 2 groups of their residents to visit Hagerman Fire House in honor of International Firefighters Day! It was so nice that they wanted their residents to feel safe and knowledgeable about fire safety. The residents enjoyed a tour of the variety of different apparatus and trucks we have as well as speak with one of our long time volunteers who has been with us for 59 years to ask any questions they had, both groups even got to see our volunteers respond to a real emergency call. After their visit, Aly and her life enrichment staff had their residents write and draw thank you cards that she and Tom dropped off to use the following day. We can’t wait to invite the residents back again for more fire safety activities!
