Based on my experience, prospective residents should carefully evaluate whether the services provided justify the substantial cost. In many respects, I believe one could achieve a higher level of individualized care by staying in a hotel, hiring private nursing assistance for activities of daily living, and arranging services independently. While the facility presents itself very well from a marketing and sales perspective, I found the actual resident experience to be disappointing. The food quality was consistently below expectations, staff responsiveness was often lacking, and meaningful medical support appeared limited. On numerous occasions, I observed staff members who seemed more engaged with their personal cell phones than with resident needs. One incident in particular left a lasting impression. I witnessed a resident collapse and attempted to assist. I was instructed not to intervene until emergency medical personnel arrived. Fortunately, the resident recovered, but I was troubled by what I perceived as a lack of urgency, compassion, and clinical preparedness among some members of the staff. The activity program also fell short of expectations. Many activities appeared simplistic and offered little intellectual stimulation. There were occasional musical performances that were enjoyable and well received, but these were the exception rather than the rule. I also found the administrative culture difficult and, at times, unwelcoming. Residents who do not readily fit into the established social environment may find themselves feeling isolated rather than included. My overall impression was that financial considerations often seemed to take precedence over resident satisfaction and quality of life. Prospective residents and families should understand that this is not a hospital or a comprehensive healthcare facility. Those requiring significant medical oversight may find that the level of support available does not meet their expectations. Given the fees charged, I expected a substantially higher standard of service, engagement, and responsiveness. The physical plant is attractive and well maintained. Unfortunately, in my view, the quality of care, administrative responsiveness, and resident support did not match the appearance of the facility. For an organization that charges premium rates, the value received was, in my experience, difficult to justify.
