My godmother went there for rehab. She had been there two weeks. I explained to them I had to go out of the country but I could receive phone calls. Within two days they transferred my mother to a hell hole and no one could give me real answers. I tried to call the social worker. Ms. Rashida Moore, I even sent emails with no responses. This is not someplace. I will put any family member ever. They could have at least had the decency to return my phone call. My mother has a tick in her right arm. They were supposed to be checking that out because she did not have it before she went to the facility. No one ever did anything about it.. I had to keep reminding them that she was a diabetic, although they were giving her cookies and cake on her tray. My mom is 90 years old and was not treated well.

Please Please Please
Do Not Send Your Loved Ones To This Facility
The ratings are all false. This is the worse that I have ever seen in my lifetime. My mom was scheduled to transfer yesterday.
After arrival, I kindly asked the EMTs to take my mom back to the hospital because the conditions were deplorable. The facility was not only filthy inside, seniors were just scattered all around and it was just a state of chaos. A deceased person, wrapped in a burgundy tarp was wheeled out the building, right in front of everyone, in full display. What a horrible experience. I asked to speak with an administrator and was met with opposition. Overall, this place should be classified as a shelter for rescued animals as opposed to a rehabilitation center. Instead of winning an award as a great institution, this place should be shut down, immediately!!

In May of this year, my brother needed a place for rehab. From the moment we reached out to Astoria, the staff was fantastic. The place was clean, every staff member we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. My brother was fairly mobile, so he was able to meet up with some of the assisted living residents and they really liked it there. There is a chance that assisted living is in the near future for my brother and this visit gave him a piece of mind that there are good places out there. To all families looking for a place for your loved one, whether it be for rehab or permanent…go visit in person any home you are considering.
