Artis Potomac (AP) is a wonderful place for our mother. Our mother is 93 years old, active, and independent. Due to her memory loss, she cannot live without supervision. She joined the Artis Potomac community seven months ago and engages in the activities and other services provided to all residents.

Artis Potomac is great. There are fun activities that our mother can participate in throughout the day. I look at the program as Senior Adult Day Care. The staff keep the residents active both physically and mentally. The residents can have time alone or be socially engaged with residents and staff. Artis monitors her needs and tailors her support as much as reasonable to continue her normal routines. My mother likes to read the newspaper with her coffee in the morning. In the afternoon, she participates in group activities in the Community Room. Recently, the residents have gone on field trips to the museum at Glen Echo Park, the WWII Memorial, and various gardens.

Clearly, my mother would rather be at home. However, AP is the best option for her, it is a good option. She is with other seniors. The staff is truly caring and engaging.

My mother loves the staff. There are plenty of greetings and hugs to go around. The staff is very caring and understanding of all the residents and are great at redirecting her when her emotions or thoughts become overwhelming. I no longer worry about her medication management, wandering off unsupervised, or her sitting home alone with negative thoughts.
