Mom went to Arbrook to recover from surgery and an extended hospital stay that left her too weak to come home. Arbrook staff were very caring and the whole place was full of positivity and helpfulness. The leadership was very supportive of patients, family and staff. Folks like Eric, the admissions director, Paulette, just one of the very attentive and kind nurses made me feel very confident and comfortable about my mom’s care. Mom got PT, OT and ST a couple of times a week and started walking to lunch and dinner which helped her recover even more and faster. All that said, nursing and rehab facilities have a very hard job and with so many ailments, injuries and conditions not everything is perfect to every patient’s liking. For example, mom shared a room with a stroke victim who was quite vocal as she struggled with terrible hallucinations. I brought mom headphones to watch TV in peace and earplugs for sleeping. Full disclosure, I went to see her most days for 6 hours a day. So I saw a lot and I think it was a very well run, responsible, attentive and happy place.

Ok..today is 6/15, 1st review written 2 days ago. Will update. Vital signs were checked. As of today I've the walker, toilet riser. Room mate got very upset when her light was turned off so I must live w that. I want a private room. Ins will pay. My son must use a cane. Theres onlyroom to stand. Room is tiny. Breakfast has bacon. Cant eat it. Kitchen knows. 1st review next... I'm very concerned with things they don't do. What kind of facility never checks your vitals?Ive not been treated well except for a handful of angelic nurses & aids & a wonderful PT, Jason. They won't give me my Med City Arlington discharge packet, saying it belongs to them. NO IT DOES NOT! I need contact info which is in MY DISCHARGE PACKET FROM HOSPITAL. Stefanie is a great nurse, trying to resolve this. I've been denied my post surgical acute pain meds. First a nursesaid they were waiting for them, then she said they gave them to me, a LIE! Then they sent in a therapist to ask questions to determine my current memory &mental status. I aced every question even math. They another nurse grilled me ??? They didn't have the pain meds &their pharmacy wouldn't provide without a Dr's order. I asked them why couldn't their Dr do his duty. Then they started calling my own pain mngt dr (on weekend!)my own pharmacy, my surgeon, & many medical people in my profile. My complete medical history is available to them! I broke my femur in 2 places &fractured my hip. I have cancer, numb feet, knee needing replacement, a bad arm & Ive been taking a scheduled med for chronic pain for 15 years. They denied me a walker the first 10 hours. Said PT had to approve. Ive been using a walker for years. I couldnt see PT next day. They would not provide a toilet riser and was told to use the help of an aid to get to the low low toilet or go in my depends. No bedside toilet either so i went with the aid and it was awkward and painful and the next part was an injury caused by literally falling down on top of low as you go toilet. A scream and more intensive crying was next. I did not get my own room and the little woman next to me didn't speak English so I could not ask her to turn off her light so I could sleep. It was on all night and still is on my 3rd night. I asked for another room 3 times and was ignored. The meals are identical. 1 for all patients and very scant. They never ever give you butter spread for any roll or cornbread or biscuit. All breads are very cold and verh dry.I can't eat half of food for a very good reason. I do not have my dentures. Ive told the kitchen on a paper i send back with my tray. Im always hungry except when my pain is severe. The HOSPITAL therapists (MCA) gave me simply terrific reports because I pushed hard and worked hard to walk again...BUT I MUST USE A WALKER. Not giving a patient a walker (or meds Ive been taking for 15 years ) is so wrong and amounts to medical neglect. I want to get home because I need to start back with cancer treatments. Im now 5 treatments behind because I was recovering from surgery before I fell. You cannot get cancer treatments in a hospital or any type of clinicHA HA! Ive suffered so much in 48 hours that it has set me back 2 days. As far as I am concerned this is medical neglect. And keeping my very own medical discharge packet is almost criminal. Many phone calls will take place in the morning. I want out of here. I want nothing more than daily physical therapy to go home which is next to impossible without meds for after surgery acute pain. And I want to clean myself and wash my hair and to stop my hunger pangs. Oh yes I'm also supposed to have my leg lesions and wounds dressed every other day. Cleaning the very wide long lesions with cancer is essential. I have to remind them. I hate giving such a long bad review because of the handful of compassionate hardworking nurses and aids. But it is what it is! Don't go and dont send anyone you love. Im

I have a had a really good experience here at Arbrook Plaza. The food wasn’t all that great but the people were for the most part were really good.

My mom was taken there after breaking her hip for rehab. They had no medication ready for her she was not checked on at all! I had to go the desk and throw a fit to get anyone to pay attention. I had to call 911 and have her taken back to the emergency room where she was immediately readmitted. This place is an absolute dump! Walls were separating from the ceiling blinds wouldn't close, furniture in the room was broken. Beds to close together. The staff saw it more important to sit in the halls and play on their phones than to tend to the patients. It was loud and sounded like a party late into the night. I did call and express my concerns to the admin who said that she would check into my concerns and call me back. That was 2 weeks ago! Also, having only once nurse on staff for 110 patients is absolutely irresponsible. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES THERE! IF THEY ARE THERE FIND SOME WHERE BETTER FOR THEM. I BEG YOU.
