Follow-up Review:

I wrote my original review when this community was known as Arbor Rose, and I wanted to come back and share an update now that it has become Lavender Lane under new ownership.

What impressed me a couple months ago still holds true today, the warm, home-like atmosphere that never feels institutionalized. For families navigating the difficult journey of dementia, that environment matters more than words can express.

What makes me even more encouraged now is seeing the positive transformation taking place. The new leadership team is clearly committed to creating a culture centered on compassion, accountability, and meaningful relationships with both residents and their families and being dignified in the community’s eyes. That commitment is evident throughout the community.

The campus has also received a much-needed refresh and now feels like a charming cottage village, comfortable, welcoming, and truly a place that feels like home.

One area that deserves special recognition is the activities program. The activities team is phenomenal, especially in Memory Care. They provide engaging, purposeful experiences that promote dignity, connection, and joy for residents living with dementia. It’s evident they understand that quality of life is about so much more than meeting physical needs.

Looking back, I still feel the same peace I felt after my first visit, only now I have an even greater appreciation for the direction Lavender Lane is headed. It’s wonderful to see a community investing in both its environment and, more importantly, its people.

Previous review:
Robin gave me a tour as I am assisting my mom in seeking placement for my aunt with vascular dementia. I immediately knew this was the place for her, it has such a homelike environment and not at all an appearance or feel of being institutionalized which helps tremendously with individuals with dementia who are in the process of transitioning to a higher level of care. I feel at peace knowing that her quality of life will be honored and maintained for the last days she has on earth which is all any family can ask for at this stage of the disease.

We all come into these situations with different experiences, especially when dealing with such a diverse group of people. I first looked at this community back when it was still called Arbor Rose, and at that time I felt it was a decent place — my dad just wasn’t ready yet. Fast forward to now, under the new name Lavender Lane. I stopped in one day to look at the apartment again. Wendy was kind enough to have a resident show me her unit so I could see how the space looked furnished. Even without a kitchen, she had made excellent use of the large layout: an apartment‑sized fridge, queen bed, dresser, sofa, and a baker’s rack holding a microwave, coffee maker, and plenty of other items. It reassured me that the space could work for my dad. Wendy gave me a price sheet showing $1,100 per month, and I left feeling confident. A couple of days later, after making my decision, I started calling to move forward — but no one ever returned my calls. After about a week of trying, I finally drove down there in person. That’s when Wendy told me they were having phone issues since taking over. She also informed me that the price had gone up to $1,750 per month and that they would not honor the price sheet she had previously given me. She said that was the only sheet they had at the time, so that’s what she handed out. Needless to say, I was not happy. Still, I decided to give them a second chance and made an appointment to bring my dad to see the apartment. This time, she showed us the only unit available — and it was nothing like the one I had originally seen. It was about half the size, with barely enough room for a bed, a dresser, and maybe a recliner. Had I known that was the unit we’d be viewing, I never would have scheduled the appointment. Unfortunately, this new company is not making a good first impression. If there is confusion, inconsistency, or misleading information before someone even moves in, it raises serious concerns about what else might be overlooked or hidden. My trust was with Arbor Rose. I cannot say the same for this new management.

On October 29, 2025, I made an appointment to visit Arbor Roseand tour at 11:00am with Robin. I needed to find an affordable Assisted Living Facility for my 96-year old mother. My appointment was at 11am. When I showed up at 10:56am, no one was at the front desk. After waiting for about 5 minutes, I called the main number for the facility. No one answered. After about 5 more minutes, an elderly woman (who looked like a resident) came to the front desk, asking if she could help me. I told her I had an appointment with Robin at 11am. She tried to call Robin, but there was no answer. She asked me to wait, while someone "tracked her down." No one could find her. Then, she tried to call someone else so I could tour the facility (it was a male name, but I don't remember what it was). He could not be located either. Arbor Rose didn't even show up for their own appointment, nor could they find the people responsible for touring. I just left. How could I entrust my mother's care to a place where they didn't value me enough to even keep their appointments and didn't know how to find someone to show me around. I felt embarrassed for them. I finally left because no one cared enough to just do the right thing. If they can't get the simple things right, how can they care for my mom?

Arbor Rose is a beautiful place and it has such a homey feeling about it. The cottages are what make this place feel so homey. My sister Carla will be there very soon and I know she'll love it just as much as I do.
