I'm an entertainer who for the last 20 years has performed in assisted living and memory care facilities throughout the greater DC area. I regularly do about 20 shows per month visiting many different facilities. As such I've seen dozens of places that offer assisted living and memory care residential living. They have even been recognized by MemoryCare.com as the Best Memory Care Community in Montgomery County.

Were I in need of memory care I would want to go to Arbor Place Dementia Care. Here's why:

1. The number of staff to residents is higher than at any facility I have ever gone to. When I do a program there are regularly 4-6 caretakers who are employed by Arbor Place. That's for a total of about 10-12 residents. This is in addition to any private duty nurses, although I almost never see one at arbor place as the need isn't there. Most places I visit have 1 or possibly 2 employees for 10-15 residents. Also the staff at Arbor Place doesn't view my visits as time they can bury themselves in their phone either. They actively help.
2. It was started by a physician who specializes in geriatrics and is regularly on site.
3. Most of the care givers are nurses. In my experience that in itself is unusual.
4. The staff works as a team and treats the residents with kindness, caring and love. Each resident a valued member of their community.

In my experience there are no memory care facilities that I have ever visited which are comparable. At times there's even a waiting list as there are only 16 resident rooms.

Victor G.
Entertainer
