This is going to be an extremely detailed account of my experience with Westwood Commons! I did as policy states i brought mu husband in for an assessment after I shared transparently all of his medical concerns. We completed a tour as the then director assessed my husband . I was told he would be a perfect fit for their facility. My husband moved in around May 8, 2025. The first night he was there the next morning I was informed that they were moving my husband to another room as they had gotten a whiff of something with his then roommate that was not my husband's fault but they would rather be proactive than reactive so he was moved. I asked what the issue was and I was told they didnt want to say in case it wasn't true. My husband was moved literally feet from an exit mind you my husband has dementia. Once he had been moved he began to go out the door setting off the alarm. This went on for sometime along with my husband needing me to clean him up upon arrival to visit with him. I found him multiple times soiled from urine and feces. I went into his room on two separate occasions in which his bed had been made and it was soaked through with urine. The bathroom in his room was soiled 80% with feces both in thr shower and all over the seat of the toilet. I began to receive calls that my husband had went out of one of the doors setting the alarm off but he was redirected with no other interventions needed. One of the times that my husband went out of the door it was reported to me by the staff that the director said during the day my husband could go outside on his own.. remember he has dementia so no he cannot ever be alone outside. According to the staff at Westwood Commons he left the grounds twice and was found in the adjacent grounds thank God. I sat down with the director to complete a care plan for my husband that was not followed. I was asked by one of the staff if I could look into getting my husband some melatonin because he wasn't sleeping so I said I would call the VA and ask his physician. Upon reaching out to the VA I was informed that the director had called them and asked for a prescription for serequel which is an anti psychotic and she was asked why and she responded so he will sit still. She was immediately turned down. Now this was all unbeknownst to me so I brought it up the second time I met with the director at that time her response was there was no need to talk about it because it didn't happen. Needless to say I told her that I didn't appreciate her going behind my back attempting to put him on a drug we had not discussed. I told her im a very transparent person and I expect the same from her. So I digress moving on I was constantly reminded that my husband needed to leave for a higher level of care so the search was on and I began to feel harassed as I was doing my best . I work and I have to visit with my husband. I even looked for a higher paying job so I could afford a higher fee that other places had. I was getting emails weekly sometimes daily. I was given a 30 day notice and not for not paying the monthly fee which I had on auto pay but because they wanted him out. While he was there his belongings disappeared and when his laundry was done they damaged his clothing with bleach. I had placed a recliner in his room and every time I went there I noticed there was an incontinence pad on the chair so I was delighted they were protecting the chair just to find out that he had defecation encrusted in the chair to the point it wouldn't come out so rather than clean up the feces it was covered up. To wrap this up my husband has been moved to a memory care facility where he should have been in the first place but me being new to all of this I trusted and believed in the wrong people who say $$$ signs . Upon my husband leaving he had damaged and missing items but belive the facility has not forgotten to reach out about unpaid fees for the days he was there in the month of September. If I have any advice for anyone looking for residential care for a loved one do your research.
