I just returned from visiting my mother for two weeks in May, 2026. We celebrated her 103rd birthday and Mother's Day. While she is definitely showing signs of her age, she has begun opening up in some pleasantly surprising ways. After years in which my visits consisted mostly of sitting in her room watching old movies on TV, she now spends most of her time participating in many of the fun social activities that the team at Wellington plans for each day. I watched her play bingo, hangman, and group crossword puzzle with many of the other residents. She also prefers to watch TV and movies in the theatre rather than alone in her room. On one occasion she raised her hand to go on a field trip to Krispy Kreme to enjoy a hot donut. And she recently enjoyed what was probably her first S'mores at a BBQ event for all the residents at Wellington. I should mention that she starts each day being dressed to look her best by Bergaline, who seems to take pride in making Mom feel good about her appearance. Thank you for that. Gertrude does an excellent job of getting Mom ready at night and has done a fine job of educating me as to specific products that help with her care and hygiene.<br><br>The quality of the food and the food service in general deserve a real shout out. Brandon, director of food services, and his staff do an amazing job, not only making tasty, nutritious, and varied meals, but they will bend over backwards to satisfy special needs and requests. Best of all, they do all this with patience.<br><br>The health care team is terrific, always keeping me informed of what is going on with my mother and any matters that need addressing. Since I live almost 3000 miles away, it is very comforting to know that she is receiving the medical attention and care she deserves.<br><br>So thank you to Wellington for the excellent quality of life you provide to your residents in all the segments of life that need to be addressed - activities, food, social, health, and general assistance. Immediately below is a review I wrote 2 years ago. It is all still accurate.<br><br>My 101 year old mother has been at Wellington and previously at another facility under the same ownership since 2018. During that time she has received excellent care by a staff that I have always found responsive to her and my requests. This is important to me as I live across the country and I find much comfort in knowing she is in good hands. When I visit, I have always been made to feel welcome. When we have had a logistics issue, for example, getting rid of an old couch or having to get her to a health care appointment, Wellington staff has always been helpful in finding a solution. I trust them to do what is right.<br><br>Beyond all the above good qualities, Wellington makes a real effort to enrich the lives of the residents and create a community in which all can participate and enjoy themselves. If you look closely at the pictures from a recent carnival, there is a picture of my mother at one of the booths. This is just one of the many activities designed to bring the residents together and have fun.<br><br>Their ongoing efforts to take care of my mom demonstrates to me a deep integrity and commitment to senior care.
