I have been there several time, my Family and I are always treated with respect and taken care of. All the negative reviews make me sad because the doctors and nurses do a great job. If you don’t like Newark you better never go to string or RRH in Irondiqoit. That is awful. At least Newark you get a room and not out in the hall. Newark would be my first choice ED.

I just had major surgery there, over the Easter Holiday, no less..Everyone here was AMAZING. The nurses on 2E this weekend. ALL OF THEM , THE MED TECHS., DIETARY, all disciplines!! The facility itself was pristine, house keeping checked on me frequently to make sure I had what I needed .Wonderful Bedside manners. Their number one concern was my comfort and well being. There are all educated and smart answered all my worries and concerns in a comprehensive, caring fashion, . The nurses technical care was second to none. Please give them raises. I will miss these wonderful people. Thank you so much ALL WHO CARED FOR ME THIS PAST WEEKEND. THANK NEWARK/WAINE HOSPITAL.

"Dr" Rodriguez needs to have some compassion and caring and is an embarrassment to the profession. To tell a young woman clearly in distress and extreme pain to "take Tylenol and wait it out" is disgusting. When are women going to be taken serious? She could have died from a ruptured etopic pregnancy and it would have been the fault of Rodriguez and the "medical staff" in the ER. How dare he tell her it would be a waste of her time and theirs to come back in when she called back after being sent home to only end up being in more pain. Imagine that being your daughter or wife Dr Rodriguez. How would you have felt if she was not being taken serious and the Dr putting her life in danger? This Dr and all the ED medical staff should be looked into and I will be filing a complaint with the state. From a look at all the other recent reviews, there is clearly a huge concern of liability, lack of respect, and lack of compassion along with a huge lack of Medical Knowledge and professionalism at this hospital. The state needs to investigate before someone dies under their watch. Absolutely disgusting care. Thank God for Thompson hospital who saved this young ladies life when Newark failed to provide the medical necessity.

On Friday morning, I woke up in an unbearable amount of pain—so severe I could barely sit or stand. I tried to go to work anyway, but quickly realized something was seriously wrong and had to leave. My husband and I went to Newark Hospital, where we sat in the ER for over six hours. During that time, they took blood and a urine sample. While waiting, I began experiencing vaginal bleeding, which I reported immediately. I was told I would be getting an MRI, only for it to be canceled while I was already in the room. When I asked why, a nurse looked at me and said, “Don’t freak out.” No explanation. No reassurance. Just something that made an already terrifying situation worse. Shortly after, they told me I was pregnant. This was completely unexpected, as I had been on birth control. When I asked if the amount of pain and bleeding I was experiencing was normal, I was told “sometimes.” After an ultrasound, they told me they could not see a pregnancy in my uterus. Despite being in excruciating pain and barely able to function, I was sent home with Tylenol and told I was in a “gray area.” I was instructed to follow up on Monday. I expressed multiple times that my pain was severe. I was still sent home. That night, the pain became the worst I have ever felt in my life. The next morning, I called and spoke to the on-call OB/GYN, who told me again that there was nothing more they could do and that coming back in would be a waste of time. A waste of time. Still in unbearable pain, I called Thompson Hospital for a second opinion. They immediately told me to come in. The difference in care was immediate. I was treated with urgency, compassion, and respect. They ran tests right away, repeated the ultrasound, and actually listened. Very quickly, they found the problem. I had an ectopic pregnancy. My fallopian tube had ruptured, and I was internally bleeding. Within an hour, I was in surgery—having my life saved. I cannot stop thinking about what could have happened if I had listened to Newark Hospital. If I had stayed home. If I had waited until Monday like they told me to. The reality is this: I was sent home during a life-threatening emergency. My pain was dismissed. My symptoms were minimized. I was made to feel like I was overreacting—when in reality, I was in critical condition. Three days after my emergency surgery, Newark Hospital called to “check in.” By then, it was too late. This experience was not just upsetting—it was dangerous. No one should be treated this way when they are clearly in severe pain and asking for help. I will never return to Newark Hospital.

Terrible place, no compassion, and non-professional. I came in with a severe leg break and was ignored with no pain meds for 3hrs. Apparently staff thought I was intoxicated, which I was absolutely not (even EMTs said I wasnt)....thats why I was treated horribly. Thank god I was transferred to Strong for surgery where they have ICARE values and was treated "fairly" with kindness and compassion. Stay away from this place. Why are you even open? You cant even handle trauma let alone care for patients.
