Back in February nurse p came to my house to see test my husband to see if he could come to their memory care. He was approved, but they didn’t have a private room open at the time. My husband is a private person and didn’t want a roommate, even though the rooms were separated I know he wouldn’t had liked it. So I ended up finding another place for him.

I really liked nurse p when she came to my house. She was very nice and easy to talk to, explained the move in process, explained how the dementia disease can impact our lives. Last week she texted me just to see how me and my husband were doing. I couldn’t believe she remembered us after 6 months. That really meant a lot to me because she didn’t have to do that, it just showed that she really cared.

Let me tell you, dementia is not easy and my husband gives me a run for my money. The day she texted me I was glad to hear from her because I was having a rough time. It made me feel like we weren’t just another sale to her or the company. She really cared and still remembered us even though my husband never moved there.

We may have found another place, but nurse p left a lasting impression on me. Not everybody takes the time to check on people months later. The company is lucky to have her. Thank you nurse p for being you and for giving me the time to vent, it meant more than you know.

The current Wellness Director Parveen at Vitality Windermere is truly exceptional. She is present every single day, always available, and responds promptly to emails, phone calls, and texts. No matter the situation, she always says, “My pleasure,” and her kindness reminds me of the outstanding customer service at Chick-fil-A.

Even without an Executive Director, she has been a constant source of support for residents and families a will help anyway that she can. My grandmother-in-law was fortunate to have her at another community, and seeing the same compassion, dedication, and leadership here has been incredibly reassuring.

Entrusting a loved one to a senior living community is never easy, but she makes it so much easier by genuinely caring for both the residents and their families. Vitality Living is incredibly lucky to have her and I hope that she never leaves.

I must say the leadership team as a whole is amazing. From the activities to the food, it is really great. Glad we chose here!

From the moment you walk into the community, there’s such a beautiful and calming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at peace. A huge part of that feeling comes from your director of wellness Parveen and the energy she brings into the building every single day.

What I appreciate most is that she is genuinely herself. Nothing feels forced or fake. She leads with compassion, honesty, and such a calming presence. She’ll even sit in dim lighting in her office sometimes just to create a more peaceful, less overwhelming environment, and I promise you, it works. You can feel the difference.

She communicates so well, listens without making you feel rushed, and truly makes people feel seen and cared for. It’s rare to find someone who makes such a difference in both the biggest and smallest ways.

Most importantly, my sister is genuinely happy under her care. My sister enjoys the outings the activities, the happy hours especially! I have not seen my sister dance in years, but each happy hour she’s up on her feet and that makes me happy. She absolutely loves being there and that means everything to our family. So thank you for that! Knowing she’s being cared for by someone who truly has a heart for people brings so much comfort. All the managers are exemplary and I’m beyond thankful.

Parveen is absolutely adored for a reason, and this community is lucky to have her and all the managers ❤️

Our family’s experience with Parveen has been exceptional. After previously caring for my mother at another community, we were so impressed by her compassion, professionalism, and extensive knowledge that we chose to follow her to this community. Parveen consistently goes above and beyond for her residents, ensuring that each individual feels seen, valued, and genuinely cared for. Her dedication creates a level of trust and comfort that is truly rare. In addition, the community itself provides a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that gives families peace of mind. I must say I’ve had lunch and dinner at this community and the food is beyond my expectations. We are incredibly grateful for the quality of care and leadership demonstrated here.

The folks working at Sonata (recently renamed Vitality Living Windemere) seem universally kind and helpful. However, other aspects have deteriorated over the past two years. While there are still moments of greatness here, the consistency varies widely.

First off, the food quality has deteriorated. Two years ago, the menu offered a variety of entrees comparable to what you might eat in a mid-level restaurant. Today, the menu repeats, and occasionally the meal is a sandwich with cold cuts. At this price point, nobody should eat unhealthy lunch meat for dinner.

Although the kitchen solicits resident feedback, the chef responds to requests with excuses about the budget. Little improves. Again, at this price point, and with a chef in a full kitchen, food costs shouldn’t be an issue. Plenty of other facilities achieve better results with less revenue per resident.

I should also note that the owners have increased rents every year. If there are budget issues, they are self-inflicted.

I also have concerns about the amount of salt used in the meals. Residents can add salt if they wish, but they can't remove it. The staff claims a nutritionist reviews the menu, but I can’t imagine they signed off on this level of sodium for senior citizens on blood pressure medications.

I also have concerns about the staffing levels. In the past, I have heard that residents have had difficulty getting help in a timely manner. If there aren’t enough staff to address resident pull cords and alarms, the staff must call 911. The residents rely on their alarms and pull cords for health and safety. If someone has fallen or has chest pain, they need immediate attention. It isn't clear to me if this has been addressed.

The activities also seem less frequent and less interesting than they were two years ago, when each month had an entire calendar of activities around a theme. That isn’t to say it’s all bad; chair dancing is a hit! If there is a pattern here, it’s that the staff is great and the leadership team (chef, activities director, etc) seems to be slacking.

Another challenge here is health care. Vitality provides transportation to appointments on Tuesday and Thursday, but only if there is availability. When family members have to take off work to drive residents to see specialists, something isn’t working correctly. Again, when we moved in, we were sold quite a different standard of care.

Finally, to end on a brighter note, the setting looks beautiful, surrounded by trees, nature, and a lovely lake. Again, the staff I've met are universally lovely.

I’m hopeful that the new owners will take immediate action to address my concerns above. This facility really impressed us two years ago, and with better management, it can get there again. To do that, I should note, the facility first needs a dedicated on-site director to raise the bar, especially when it comes to food and proper staffing levels.
