My rating is based on a tour with Alisa. My husband and I are looking to the future for our later retirement planning. Being totally unaware that we could rent an independent apartment earlier in retirement, I was taken by surprise by Harbor Chase, which is located in the highly rated Dr Phillips area of Orlando, Florida.

The apartments I saw were larger than expected and very well laid out. They are unfurnished. The largest apartment was 2 bedrooms with a den and a beautiful open plan living room and kitchen area, with loads of large windows, a balcony, and a gorgeous view!

The cost is pricey, but you get what you pay for and if you plan on selling your home, you could very likely afford it and reduce your living complications.

I loved that there is a 'gentle' separation between the independent and Assisted Living areas, with them having separate gyms, and Salon/Spas (although usable by both), a very decent pool and loads of community areas and restaurants in house.

A generous food allowance is included in the monthly fee, which can be used at any of the restaurants, as well as all utilities, cable, Wi-Fi, maintenance basic housekeeping. Oh, and there is a stackable washer and dryer in every apartment!

When you are ready to move in, they will upgrade the carpets/flooring to your choice as well as making sure everything is top notch before you move in!

The biggest plus was that we will be able to seamlessly move from independent living to homecare in the same apartment (covered by LTC Insurance), and then, if necessary, move to a different apartment in the Assisted Living area later (also covered by LTC Insurance), or Memory Care should we start losing the plot :)

If my husband weren't still working from home and we were at that stage in our lives, we would absolutely move in IMMEDIATELY! We look forward to revisiting in the not-too-distant future, and hopefully it will still be under great management.

Thank you, Alisa, for a wonderful tour and for your hospitality,

My wife and I are debating whether or not to move from Virginia Beach to Orlando or to another city in Virginia. After our tour (and lunch) with Mortrez, we decided that if we decide on Orlando, and if we decide on an Independent Living community, it will be at HarborChase at Dr. Phillips. The buildings and grounds are pristine, the feeling is one of warmth, and the staff was friendly and professional. It is expensive, of course, but all inclusive, and much more practical and flexible for us than a Life Care facility.

My sister has been a resident at Harbor Chase for three months, they have a program called Sound That helps new residence get acquainted with the facilities and other residents. My experience is with Diane Cox, who is in charge of the sound program, she has gone over and above to make my sister and myself feel comfortable in the new facilities and meeting other residence. She will text me with updates about my sister. She does extra little things for her and my sister feels like she’s has a friend that she can count on and I feel like I have an extra pair of eyes When I can’t be there. It’s a good place for seniors/memory care patients, Diane makes it a great experience.
